Comment:

Stephen is a good lecturer, though he doesn't spoon feed information to you. One must work to connect his lecturing to the points on the slides. Not too hard if you try to. Other students had trouble following his lectures, I found them inspiring. Pay attention, give him a chance and you could learn a lot. Straightforward marking and exams.

I loved this class (just hated the text-ask anyone who took it to see what I mean)!His knowledge of CFP is impressive. A bit unanimated unfortunately, but made up for this with witty remarks & overall great lectures & materials!

Abysmal. The worst class I have ever taken at McGill. Maybe he means well, but this is the most useless, boring, disorganized and unappealing course you will ever attend. And regardless of how much you work and/or how brilliant of a political strategist you are, you're not going to get an A. That's the McG Poli Sci dept for ya. Don't bother.

This class was made fruitless by the appointment of this Prof. Grades COMPLETELY depended on the T.As you got & THEIR objectivity. The Prof had NOTHING to do with our marks. Avoid David Manchester as T.A at all cost! O & he is a absolute Rightist!!...If you get a decent T.A, it's an easy class to get a C.F credit.

Booooring. But very easy. If you're in Poli Sci, you're going to need this course. If you're interested in Poli Sci as an elective, look elsewhere. Gallagher is too mechanical when he teaches, although the positive thing is that he basically tells you what's on the exams.

He spoke in a monotonous tone and the content was rather dry- but I suppose that's not his fault. If you are taking this class- the exams are basically right out of the textbook info- if you know that and can tie in some Reader articles you are golden. Also- he gives good info about what to expect on exams. marking is NOT easy.

He is not the most engaging prof. However, his tests were very straightforward and to his credit he made sure we knew what to expect. The selected readings were really boring and from time to time far too long.

its so adorable how he tries to be funny at times.. which helps bcuz the material is soo boring. the reading load is light. but his midterms consists mainly of his lecture slides.

He has that natural style of talking that sounds like he's just come up with the idea. He is a nice guy when you talk to him. He definitely keeps students awake during class by throwing in words now and then to perk up our ears.

I cannot imagine a worse class. Lectures are useless even if you manage to stay awake. Notes are hard to take b/c he stops mid-sentence to start a completely different thought. Stay away from this class if you can help it.

this class is painfully boring because gallagher can ramble about anything and everything. the highlights of this class included steve-o's little puns on politics which only he laughed at. sorry gally, your lectures were useless and did not highlight anything important from the readings.

Wow, people are so forgiving. Comparative politics is not a hard class to teach. This man delivered interesting material in the most incredibly convoluted and pathetic manner. His lectures were contradictory to the text. The man defines things wrong. He is terrible. Professors are not good if their class is easy. Good comes from an ability to teach

O my God! a robot is more animated than Gallagher. The difficulty of the course all depends on which TA you get. Gallagher's very straightforward with what he wants on the midterms and finals. Be prepared to write you ass off. Final was 7 well-developed essays with clear thesis in 3 hours. Midterms were 3 essays in 50 minutes.

Gallagher is very boring, but his class isn't too hard. Although I came out of the lectures bored, I came out with a good mark. The Canadian politics, esp. the business of politics, was the most interesting aspect of the course.

he may have a monotonous voice, but he's very straight forward and clear. he talks slowly and repeats things often so you actually absorb stuff. he also gives so many examples so you can see how the concepts apply to the real world. conferences were really good. he works out of the textbook so you can follow along easy enough. hard to get an A

REDICULOUS!!!! he teaches you nothing you actually need to know for the exams, the exams are essays straight from the text book, complete regurgitation, theyre is absolutley no point in going to class, its a learn it youself kinda deal, my dog could have tought me poli sci better. incredibly boring. ridiculous exams - they would be better served as take homes. his exam structure reflects how horribly his course is structured - there is none. time consuming, and not at all rewarding.
