Professor Swellander is a real nice guy! About 4 essays and 1 group project as final. He grades essays after some time, but gives out some good feedback. His lectures are over things that we already know, so most of the time it's chill. Accessible out of class. Essays make you do research, kinda strict on that. Go to class, do the work, get an A.

Not my favorite professor but EASY GRADER. He is very lenient on most things, attendance is not mandatory but show up to class because he will become more familiar with you. Only 4 essays and a group project. This was a stress free class.

Comment:

Professor Swellander is nice and wants his students to succeed. Classes mostly consist of lecture, just listen/ participate. Writing isn't my favorite subject, but there weren't too many papers and you're given plenty of time to write them. There are no tests, grading is only based on the papers, writing portfolio, and one group final presentation.

He is very nice, but he doesn't give many grades or good feedback which makes it hard to improve and get higher grades. He is very boring, his lectures rarely have anything useful to pay attention to and it is close to pointless to attend class other than attendance is mandatory. He seems really disorganized. But the class is pretty easy.

He is an awesome professor. Attendance was mandatory but I didn't mind coming to this class. There were four papers, a portfolio and the final was a group presentation. He allows a day in class before the paper is due for peer revision. Swellander was a great prof and I would recommend taking his course.

EASY! 4 essays (easy, three pages), portfolio and group presentation. Takes attendance using clicker. EASY GRADER. All my essays received a 95 and I put little effort in them! Group presentation is easy. Not a strict grader. Lectures are boring but it's worth it bc it's so easy. He is a very nice guy and funny! Best professor in the English depart!

Simply put, Swellander is a gem, definitely sign up for Comp with him, 3-4 papers throughout the semester with extremely easy grading, so there's no reason to fail. His lectures can be a bit dull, but he truly cares about the class and will do the most to help you succeed!

Swellander is a really nice professor that truly likes the material he covers. He grades essays fairly and lets you rewrite an essay at the end of the semester to earn more credit. He takes attendance, but going to class isn't that important. Everything you need is online. Lectures can get a bit boring, but the time goes faster if you stay engaged.

Very kind and passionate about what he teaches. He'll grade you off of only 4 essays, portfolio, and presentation, there are no pop quizzes or tests. You don't even had to do the reading he assigns. If you really want an "A" in the class, go to his office hours and he'll look over your essay. If you follow prompt, and write fluidly, you'll do well!

I took him for Writing comp 2, and he's a great professor. He lectures every class, he posts the powerpoints on blackboard. Overall he doesn't grade as harsh, so I recommend taking him for Comp 2.

Definitely take him for writing comp 2. He is chill and you don't have to do many papers. He talks in class which can be boring, but that's okay. As long you use the correct amount of sources and explain them well, you don't have to do the suggested page amount. Twice it was suggested to write 4 pages, but I got an A with 3 pages.

He's a pretty cool professor, have to do a handful of essays. Make sure to do these essays, I believe we only had a total of 6 grades. He's not a tough grader. Super easy course, laid back professor, he can get kinda boring but it was okay.

Professor Swellander is great! His lectures are often very easy to get into. He lectures over whatever we are reading from the book that week . We didn't have any tests, instead we had essays due every 2 weeks. No worries, he is very clear on what to write about and the essays were never longer than 2 pages. Very sweet man and understandable!

He's a great man. He's nice, funny and very intelligent. He has an essay due every two weeks,which seem daunting but he's a very nice man who will help and the topics are really easy to write on. He's understandable if an issue comes up and you can't make it to class. He's one of my favorite teachers. Recommend him for English.

He's the friendliest guy ever but most people won't get his jokes (especially since it's a freshman course). He played the mandolin in class which was cool but irrelevant. The class is so easy and the only grades are broad-topiced essays. I rarely needed to go to class except when turning in essays.

I loved this teacher! I hardly went to class, still passed with a B. He will help you out. Easy A!
