Professor Thompson is a really great guy. Very funny, and understanding. The course is pretty lecture heavy, but he does ask for opinions. Grading is made of of four quizzes/tests that are worth 25% each, but he allows open notes. Is welcoming to questions for clarifications. The material itself is difficult to follow but he's great at explaining.

He lectures a lot, but does ask for your thoughts on certain topics. He takes notes on the board. There are quizzes every week but he emails out possible questions and allows you to bring a full size paper double sided with answers on it. His grading system is hard to figure out because he only grades things out of three.

He was amazing. He really knows his stuff. Very patient and very funny. Phil 4250 was very difficult but he made it very clear. Reading is expected and quiz every week but not that bad. Paper is required but not difficult to do if you show up.

Great teacher. If you do the work and hand in papers you will get an A. The class isn't easy but nothing in regards to Philosophy is easy. I missed a few classes and just let him know ahead of time.

He is very smart and wants everyone to participate but doesn't want to lecture. he expects the class to take control of the discussion. it is definitely a college level course, not easy but still interesting.

He is an amazing teacher!! Really engaged in the class discussions and makes learning the material fun! Yes we had a 20 page paper to write but as a class we go over the material for it all semester long. We had three goup presentations which were a lot of fun. Attend class, speak your mind on the subject and you will love his class!!

Okay! So at first he seems like a pretty cool prof... But his syllabus is weird! Attendance is a must apparently even though you guys barely do anything in that class he wants you there. It can be a easy class if you just attend! In our class we have to do a 20 page paper which sucks because we don't learn ANYTHING. My worse prof ever honestly

THOMPSON. IS. THE. MAN. (I like the subject of Philosophy though so don't take my word for it but just go to class and if you're not going to read the textbook at least get it on your persons)

This guy is a riot! He gives like 6 tests through the semester, and 50 points on participation. Each test is worth 8.3 points. Pretty much if you show up to class you get the 50 points regardless if you talk or not. This is my 2nd time taking the course because I failed it the first time. If you are failing this class shame on you

Very nice guy, but gave out way to much work for a low level class. The topics that were covered were interesting. Two papers and debates are what u are graded on. If your into philosophy go for it

Dr. Thompson is very friendly, helpful, and understanding, great at leading discussions, and anti-bookstore! He just charged $8 altogether for 2 packets. As for the curriculum, we did 2 research papers, and 2 group presentations in groups of 3, one of each based on Plato and one of each based on Aristotle! He is an excellent professor. I got an A+.

best class i had all semester. he understands that philosophy can be tricky and takes plenty of time to help clarify. he does get off topic sometimes, and has a quiz every week. quizes are open notes, text, cell phone, laptop whatever you want! and he gives the questions ahead of time, so you have time to prepare. deffinitly reccomended!

He was a fun professor but always participate because he gets a little flustered if no one is talking. Talks alot. had a quiz every single class which were open notes and some journals here and there. He changes the curriculum ever semester.

Knows what he is teaching, loves it, and is very helpful if you make an effort. Grades on attempt, and offers extra credit more than once. Gives many examples, and never goes off topic, just talks in "what if" circumstances a lot. Be prepared to study, and go to all classes, if you don't you will fail because of lack of knowledge

He's a good guy, insightful, and interesting to talk to--HOWEVER when it comes to actually -teaching- he's difficult to understand, as he often gets off topic and discusses irrelevant things. This would be fine if it weren't for the weekly quizzes we had to prepare for.. Many students got by the skin of their teeth. Don't be lazy and you'll do fine
