It's a very fast paced class, so I would recommend you take macro before micro, unlike what I did. I felt like her tests were very fair and she is pretty clear and what she wants you to know. Downing is also super nice and answers questions you have very clearly, Highly recommend.

Downing's lectures were fast paced and a lot of the times really hard to follow. If you want to do well in her class, read the textbook, that makes the biggest difference. She only grades off two connect HW assignments/week, 2 exams, and the final. As long as you read the textbook and put effort into her class I would recommend you take her.

Tanya, was a great choice for microecon. She's very nice, and will help you with questions during class or in her office hours. I honestly thought the tests were fair, but you go to put effort into reading the book since her notes can be just an outline at times. Do the online hw and watch the online lecture videos she posts! Two group projects

Ms Downing is very knowleageable about the subject matter. However her grading and weighting of the assignments was VERY discouraging. DO NOT MISS any of the participation assignments. The weekly McGraw Hill hw even if completed, barely makes a difference in your grade until the end of the semester. Appear to barely passing until end of semester.

She is a very good teacher and you need to be involved to understand the class. The tests are pretty difficult and come with a lot of studying as the homework material does not really relate to the tests at all. You have to think outside the box and truly understand everything in the chapter. Study guides are not always given as an FYI

This class is very faced paced and her lectures are confusing. Using McGraw-Hill online homework assignments is a pain. Her study guides don't even cover half the material on the exams and she will not explain further, "check your notes" is common. Complicated mathematics is required for just about every unit. Avoid this instructor like the plague.

I took Tanya for Macroecocn (the in-person class), and she was great. The textbook is a bit difficult at times, but her lectures made everything understandable. I noticed some people who have difficulty with math struggle, but I personally picked everything up quickly. The tests and grading were very reasonable. I'd definitely take her again.

Tanya is a great choice when trying to figure out what professor to take for either micro or macro. She is very nice and gives very clear instructions on what you will be tested on. Do the homework, go to class, and you will get a great grade. She is very strait forward and wants you to do well for yourself. Take her class without a doubt.

I was not very interested in ECON or didn't know much walking into that class, but after taking it, I became fairly knowledgeable about ECON and learned a lot! She starts out the classes with TED talks a lot and other cool stuff. The tests are pretty tough but she offers extra credit and has plenty of opportunities for points. DO THE HOMEWORK

Tanya may not be the best teacher, but she's certainly not the worst. She consistently asks if you do need help, go to her office hours or get a friend's number outside of class because if not, you will be lost. It's not an easy subject but she outlines her notes and if you study those and the study guides, you will be fine.

This Professor really wants you to succeed. She uses an online system for homework that allows you to check your work as much as possible. She promotes interacting with fellow classmates and teachers to all different learning styles. She clearly outlines what her tests will be covering in order to help her students succeed.

This class is really fast paced and the online textbook program is an ineffective way to study. Its hard to follow her notes on the whiteboard shes writes notes in a confusing way by using arrows. The tests are pretty difficult, only take this class with an easy schedule.

This is my second class with Prof. Downing and I have one thing to say: She is AMAZING! I would recommend her to any student. The Econ courses are NOT easy, but they ARE rewarding and useful. The student who is dedicated will be successful in her class and will learn life skills. She is clear, consistent, and extremely helpful!

I took this online course. Would have many questions and never receive feedback. Everything was done from the textbook online so she never really taught the class. She would have links to websites, and small lecture notes that didn't help with the quizzes. Did get a good grades on essays, but never responded when I had questions.

Professor Downing is one of the best instructors at Cuesta. She works to prepare her students for the mid-term and final from the very first class session. These classes are not for the faint of heart but the students who put in a decent amount of work are going to pass with a decent grade. She will go out of her way to assist students who try.

I had Professor Downing for both econ 201A and B. She is a nice person and very informed and intelligent in economics. Her teaching style was difficult to follow and tests had some material that was not covered. Midterms and final and quite intense. Weekly tests help to with keeping up on the abundance of material to learn during the courses.
