I actually enjoyed this class and professor- gave light lectures, a few movies and NO HOMEWORK - only two mc tests and a paper. Very fair- would definitely take again- he was very enthusiastic in his classes. relatively easy A if you just read the chapters and studying vocal prior to tests.

Personally, I found his lectures very interesting. You could tell that he loves sociology by how red and excited he gets. He made us buy a textbook and a smaller book, but most of the tests are in his lectures. He gives a paper at the end and there is only a midterm and a final. He's pretty chill and doesn't force participation.

His love for Sociology is evident which for a better class experience. He tends to goes off on tangents a lot but he`s fun. His tests can be difficult so you do need to take notes and read the textbook.

Interesting discussions for a friday class. 1 midterm, 1 paper and a final. mutlp. choice but not on everything covered in class. he claims it's 80% of class material, 20% from the book and other readings but it's about 60-40. he has much more time in class to cover the other material, but stays too long on some issues and repeats himself a lot

Great teacher, had a 3hr lecture with him but i was never bored he always keeps it interesting. one test and one paper, very fair. i did the readings every week mainly out of interest but you could do well even without it, just pay attention in class and take some notes. perfect for a friday class.

Continuation of the comment below..Also he doesnt take attendence, only the first couple of classes. But dont miss his classes they are very important and interesting as well. We had one paper: look up a recent article in the news and relate it to sturctural functionism and conflict theory. Very fun and mind-opening assignment..3-4 pages i believe

Really an awesome professor! I had a 3 hour lecture class with him and i never felt bored out of my mind in his class. He opens your mind to so many things and he loves to talk. His test are multiple choice and i believe there were true false ques as well if im not mistaken :) I didnt buy a text book, but he generally covers everything in class.

He seemed nice at first but he is a horrible grader! his tests are much harder than the actual class! i had a 3.8 gpa and he completely lowered it. i even asked to do extra to fix my grade and he was so stubborn about it! he wouldn't even listen! i would never recommend him!!

Very easy professor IF you are taking 381w. Classes are mostly revolved around presentations from students and some basics that you should learn in soc 101. Very easy grader. Creates alot of great discussions. Only problem is that he loves to talk. Would definitely recommend.

This professor is nice, has a good sense of humor, and has entertaining stories about his research. The class is somewhat easy, though not as easy as I expected. For example, you must be prepared to read the textbook before EVERY exam if you expect to do well in this class. I recommend this professor.

Prof. Gorman is one of the best teachers I have had in my life! He makes class interesting and tests are pretty easy. Definately take him. He has inspired me to change my major to sociology! He allows you to use older editions of main textbook so you can save a bundle of money as well :)

This is a relatively easy w class. Although I'm not much of a sports fan and class can get dull, as others have said you will not find a more enthusiastic prof. He gets really excited often. Don't get backed up on readings and you should be fine. Oh there's a presentation.
