Comment:

Personally loved the class and his (story) experiences. He's very passionate about his major and loves it to death. Interesting and more than helpful, not just his field but all aspects surrounding psych. High chance of learning in class. Adaptable to students and their class work. Hw questions for every chapter, few exams and optional final.

Comment:

He clearly loves psychology. He tends to drone on and on for a while. His exams are not hard if you take notes. Mostly common sense stuff. And if you don't miss any or only like one class he gives you a ton of bonus points on your final average.

Doesn't post notes online. Wicked nice guy, willing to make accommodations if you need it. Grade mostly relies on exams that are mostly open response and he doesn't give a study guide but essay questions are typically the big ideas of the chapter. Will spend a lot of time on a topic if the class is struggling until it is understood better

Comment:

He was never rude or condescending like other people commented. He is a tough but fair grader and doesn't sugar-coat anything. However, he was really helpful. When our class wasn't understanding a concept he pushed back other plans so we could go over it more. He really cared about preparing us for RDA2, which I chose to take with him again!

Lecture is boring; but he tries to make it interesting; its not hard material to understand. No slides, just lecture; so take good notes. Most of what he tests you on is from the lecture, but you really want to read the book; its not hard stuff. Pace yourself with the papers; take your time and do them well. If class does bad on a quiz, he scales.

Dr. Schilling is very knowledgable in many areas of psych. Always willing to hear out students. Def knows what he is talking about, so listen to him!! Genuinely a nice guy; loves his family. Can be a difficult grader, but he just wants you to do the best work that you can. Worth taking a class with him.

Absoultely loved him as a teacher! It was because of him I was quite interested in changing my major to psychology. He made class fun, entertaining, and I actually learned a lot. He grades with a points system so you can choose what assignments you want to do. LOVED class.

Interesting and organized lectures. Unclear guidelines for what tests will be on, but as long as you study the notes, and review the chapters that correspond with them, you should be okay. He's a pretty tough grader, but also fair, and uses a point system, so it's not so bad. He's pretty nice, and understanding, so ask questions if you have any.

Very articulate and knowledgeable about the subject matter, and made the math portion interesting, applicable and UNDERSTANDABLE. Would recommend. Seems like a nice guy, too...obviously adores his family, which is refreshing.

Had this prof for several classes and enjoyed them all. He knows what he is talking about and is clear in his descriptions. He you take his class as seriously as he does, you'll do fine, those that have bad things to say, probably didn't show interest in his class. He's very enthusiastic in teaching and can make a boring topic fun.

This is my second class with Dr. Schilling. He's by far my favorite professor because he projects ideas in a way that you can easily understand them. Assignments are rare, but you need to read the book. Don't know why others say different, but he seems tolerable of others' opinions in class, even if they're different than his.

class with his wife was the BEST. i thought his would be good too, wrong. he knows his stuff/made class interesting, howver he was very rude/sarcastic and didn't like opinions that differed from his. In fact, he was degrading if he disagreed.his tests had NOTHING to do with notes from class. not sure why his atten. is mandatory if class was useless

good prof,explains things very well. however,my VERY thorough notes didn't help at all for the test. It's all from the book not sure why we bothered to take notes. He was also very rude + degrading to me because I missed a meeting w/him in which we were supposed to discuss an OPTIONAL assignment, he didn't care that I work 50+ hours a week

Had him for General Psych. Strict on attendance, but his lectures were interesting and easy to follow. Only 3 tests and a presentation. All the tests were multiple choice. Easy 3.0 if you read the book and go to class. Good professor, knows his stuff.
