Dr. Bucher is a great professor. She is a relatively tough grader, but she is very accessible and will work with you to improve your writing. She is willing to read your drafts as many times as necessary. In the class, we had 5 major papers (or writing problems as she describes them). We had a few other smaller assignments as well.

Dr. Butcher is very accessible outside of the class and is very willing to give feedback on papers during her office hours. A big chunk of your grade is the final paper but she gives more than enough time and help in order for you to do well.

Comment:

Dr. Bucher is probably the best English teacher I have ever had. She pushes her students to produce real quality work. I especially love her class mantra that says that those who abandon the pursuit of an A in favor of the expansion of creativity and knowledge will often find that an A is still there for them anyways. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!! :D

She lets you know at the beginning of the semester that an average grade is a C. But if you take your papers to her several times she will help you get your grade WAY up! It took me way to long to learn this. Despite how tough she is I really enjoyed her class, compared to the other writing teachers her papers are short and there's no reading!

Dr. Bucher is a great teacher and really connects with the students. I love how she gives back our papers and lets us correct silly grammar mistakes for points and how she helps students on papers by telling them exactly what needs to be changed.

She is straightforward in her lectures. She also clarifies what she wants from reaction cards, exams and essays. She can be hard grader, but she isn't that bad once you figure out what she likes from assignments. I suggest focus on organization and making a specific thesis when writing for her. Overall, she is cool. She is also understanding.

Comment:

Loved Bucher and recommend her to any and everyone. Very experienced and has a very good flow to her class. The workload is heavy, but she is excellent in assisting students. Reading is a requirement, but her text choices are interesting. She is a big fan of peer reviews, which I learned to appreciate. She encourages individual thought, a rarity.

LOVED THIS TEACHER! I usually hate english classes because I am a science major but she was great. Always made sure you weren't confused & made herself available to you at any time. Would take a paper to her before it was due & she would tel me what I needed to correct. Never made below an A on a paper. Topics were interesting and easy to write on.

This class was EXTREMELY difficult! You must write a half to full page analysis over the assigned reading for every single class. Often times she would give low scores because she didn't agree with my thoughts! The tests were very difficult too. They are subjective, and so is every other assignment. Your entire grade is based on your writing.

Bucher is an AWESOME teacher. She's a little cooky, but in a really cool way. Easily one of my fav professors so far! She will really help you improve your writing and crit thinking skills. Her methods are great -very informative and helpful. Plus, the writing problems she assigns are all on very interesting topics. Highly recommend.
