I took honors so his normal chem class might be a little different. His class was good though. It's an inverted classroom but its nice because you spend a lot of time doing problems in class. You don't always have to read either as his videos are pretty thorough. He gives intersting lectures and goes on tangents a lot. He is also very accesible.

Personally I DO NOT recommend. Brilliant chemist and nice enough guy, but wasn't good at communicating difficult concepts to intro- level chem students. Attendance pretty mandatory because of daily quizzes and lecture videos for homework before every class. Lots of practice problems and a study guide, but extremely difficult exams so be careful.

Has the flipped teaching style where you watch lecture videos at home and work problems with groups in class. A chill guy, but not great at explaining things. He went on tangents about cool things happening with science during class a lot, which is neat sometimes and annoying at other times. Gives a pretty good study guide before each exam.

The flipped classroom wasn't really the best set up for this class with all the lectures outside of class. These were very time consuming to watch but they didn't need to be. There is no SI sessions for this class either. There were 3 major tests and practice tests were very helpful.

Daily quizzes, 1-3 video lectures per class, sections to read, and in-class problems. The exams are difficult, but they were on par with classwork. Quizzes really saved my grade. Sometimes he is long winded, but he is knowledgeable. An email or going to his office hours is very helpful. This is not an easy A.

Dr. C is a brilliant man, but he may not have been the right guy to teach introductory chemistry. FLIPPED CLASSROOM: all lectures are online (and absolute bores) and has to be watched for the quizzes in every class. Gives practice tests that are similar to exams, but always throws in a question that was never seen in class before, so beware.

This is the worst class I have ever taken. He is pretentious and unwilling to answer questions unless you come to office hours. I barely managed to scrape by with a C. He frequently asks questions on his tests that he never taught and assumes everyone has taken AP chem.

You should definitely do the in class work thoroughly if you take his honors chem class. The flipped classroom style is terrible here, and the videos are boring and of no help. It's a class you can do well in if you're already very good at chemistry and work hard on the material, though his tests sometimes have curveballs thrown in.

Flipped classroom- he posts lectures for us to watch before class, short quiz on video material at beginning of class, work problems in class- not a great option for this class. Dr. C seems to make this class more difficult than it has to be. In the videos he often goes off on unrelated tangents. Tests on things not covered in videos or in class.

Do not recommend at all, even though he is the only professor for honors chem. The flipped classroom style does not work for this course. The video lectures aren't helpful, if anything just more confusing. Not sure if the textbook is helpful either. Best outside resource is the learning assistants (LAs) since there is no SI for this course

It's a flipped classroom style, but I feel like he makes it very difficult to ask questions on the videos. The work we do in class is often not discussed in the videos. He's very smart, but isn't the best at teaching. He seems to think that since it's an honors class, we should know everything already. Daily quizzes on videos so watch them!!

This is his first year teaching Honors Gen Chem at Auburn. Horrible. The flipped classroom style does not work with the content he is teaching, or I should probably say, not teaching. We need a teacher who lectures in class so we don't rely on error-prone videos that are quirky, nonsensical, and nonlinear.

I would absolutely recommend this class and Dr. C to a friend. It's a flipped classroom, but it actually works here. Class time is spent on group work problems that are the same difficulty as test problems. In class and out of class quizzes that are both easy points. Takes attendance! 88% is an A. Overall, very fair class and nice guy. Take him.

You have to put in work to pass the class. He is helpful at office hours to go over what you missed on your exam. Review his practice exams and you should do fine on the exams! Really not that bad of a class.

Dr. C is great. Gives you old exams for practice. If you do these and really know how to do them you will make an A on every test. Super helpful in class. Make sure you watch the videos and take goods notes for video quizzes everyday. They can really help you out. Group work is required but helpful since you need to learn how to work the problems.

Flipped classroom style. He gives out his old test as study guide and the real test seem to be more or less exactly the same. He's helpful if you go to his office hours too, so if you're having trouble I recommend that. Drops your lowest quiz and homework grades which helps out a lot towards the end.

The last 3 posts pretty much sum it up. Alright guy, but class wasn't the best. Found the videos pretty boring and very long. Seemed like I always had one (or two, or three) to watch before class. Tests were straight up like the in class problems and old tests. No conceptual questions. Excel work in class won't be on tests. Not very patient. Made A

class is boring. lecture videos are awful. his tests are totally non conceptual. just know how to do the practice tests and make a good formula sheet and you can make a 100. tests are easy final is hard. 88 is an A. loves to talk about global warming and how trump is ruining the environment.
