Comment:

Dr. De Bruyn makes it clear exactly what's going to be on the tests. Also, he grades insanely fast (normally quizzes are graded the same day and tests graded within two). Online HW due every Wed. He writes everything important on the whiteboard, so all you need to do is review your notes. I'd highly recommend going to SI sessions before tests.

Dr. De Bruyn is such a great professor! He genuinely wants his students to do well and that's why he never tricks them. He tells you exactly what areas to focus on/study for the tests. He is always helpful in office hours. He encourages you to talk to him if you are struggling. He grades super fast and responds to emails quickly. A real gem.

Comment:

Chemistry is a hard class in general, but De Bruyn made it easier to understand. Just note that he only writes on the whiteboard, and does have a slight European accent, but that's okay. Grades SUPER quick, and is available outside of class. For this class in general, don't be afraid to ask for help.

De Bruyn? My personal hero. Lectures are clear, white board style, and often don't go to the bell. Tests are EXACTLY WHAT HE SAYS THEY'LL BE. Very funny, understanding, and helpful if you need extra clarification. Never has the world seen a faster grader. His accent makes lectures very enjoyable. If you're already good with chem, you're golden.

He is such an amazing professor. He explained everything clearly and if you do the homework and study the lecture notes, you'll do well in the class. I definitely would take his class again.

Love him! My main man De Bruyn! Super concise and his lectures were very straightforward. Lots of online homework and quizzes, but he is very responsive to emails if you ever have any questions. He grades really fast and is always accessible outside of class. Final was a little hard, so definitely pay attention when he offers extra credit.

By far one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's caring, his office hours are wonderful, and he is clear and concise. Go to class and pay lots of attention to his excellent lectures. Only got a B because the last unit was physics and I don't like physics.

really nice guy. pretty straightforward with what he's looking for. class is written notes, no PPTs. no need for a textbook. just pay attention in class, and attend gartner's or schwarz's review session before the test and you'll be fine. online hw and quiz every week, pretty simple. would take again

Favorite professor! His lectures are completely straight forward. He tells you exactly what will be on the exams. He is always willing to help, he is an extremely sweet and helpful professor. Lectures go by so fast! He is amazing. definitely take him if you can!

Awesome professor! His lectures are very straight forward and well structured. The homework is done online and is somewhat tedious. Quizzes are given every weekend but they are also online and open note. The class takes a lot of hard work, but not impossible.

Great guy! Always available to help. His lectures were very structured and he includes practice problems to help prepare for tests. He is pretty clear about telling us what to study for tests, provides study guides, and holds review sessions before tests.

He takes all the notes from the book and tells you almost everything you will see on the test. He is clear and straight to the point, but the class requires a lot of studying. Online homework/tests aren't too hard and he responds to emails quickly. If you work for it, you can easily pull of an A or B. Midterms are tricky, but overall a good prof.

Great professor. Very clear on expectations, and clearly explains material. Recommend reading material before class. Very helpful if you go to his office hours. Not an easy class but he does make a difficult class easier to bare. Offers ec for attending chem lec from guest speakers. Highly recommend!!

Dr. DeBruyn is a great professor, highly recommendable. His class is very relaxed and casual but he always gets the information across in a way that makes sense. He cares about your success in the class and won't crush your grade if you mess up. I hadn't taken chemistry before but feel confident in the subject now. If only I'd had him for lab...

I personally loved his teaching style, with the entire breadth of material being laid out on the board where all you need to do is copy it and learn it on your own. I also liked that he provided examples after each new concept and gave practice problems as well as homework questions. Besides, I enjoyed his misspellings and overall attitude!
