Comment:
He is the worst professor I have ever met. This guy does not know how to teach, his class is boring, and the only thing he does in the class is reading the slides. He told you he will test Prolog in the final but when you see the paper there is not any question about it at all. So, be careful.

He covered little stuff during class, because he speaks slowly and with useless words. He often failed to explain any confusing concepts, so we easily got lost. Fortunately, he tested less than he taught. He told us what exactly would appear on exams, so it took only half a day to read the all (maybe "preview") mentioned slides and get an easy A.

Learned a lot in this course, but unfortunately it wasn't because of attending the lectures, which were like drinking water from a fire hose. By trying to teach too much the prof ended up teaching us little that stuck. It was basically a dry carbon copy of the textbook material that was taught in class

Heed the advice of the other reviewers and stay clear of this professor unless you absolutely have to. If you take his class convert the slides to flash cards and memorize them. A perfect answer is useless if it does not match his slides. The way his young inexperienced assistant ripped apart the exams and homework you think he enjoyed it.

You can go to class, attempt to pay attention with his mumbling and thick accent. You can study everything he asks you to for his midterm and final. and still do a bad job. because you essentially have to memorize all the slides verbatim. good luck if you are not a network engineer in real life.

I guess quiet but just study the slides. I think I used my book a couple of times but just follow slides and you'll be good. Theres a semester research project where he wants new ideas but come on...if we could be really inventive we would have already done it and made a lot of money and not go to school. So dont stress about it and pick whatever

Dr. Hwang is a great man. He is not the best teacher at times, but he cares about his students all the time. Study, pay attention, attend class, and be a good student and you will be golden. It is very evident that Dr. Hwang is a very shy man, but he is always willing to help you anyway he can (he won't take your tests for you!).

Comment:
Can't teach AT ALL! Reads the textbook slides as his "lecture", and between the accent and lack of grammar this is nigh incomprehensible. The research project was unrelated to the material, and each exam question was taken verbatim from ONE of the 500 or so lecture slides. If you happened to memorize the right slide you passed, otherwise...

Is very soft-spoken, but uses a lapel microphone which helps. Very strong accent and monotone. Willing to stay after class to talk and help, but still can be difficult to understand. He's a very nice guy and is pretty easy-going and flexible. Lectures are reading directly from the slides.

Previous rating has pretty much said it all. Group research paper stunk too (especially in a 8-week course).

With Hwang as a teacher, there's no reason to go to class. He takes the slides created by the authors of the INFS 612 book, and READS them to you for a class. The slides are avail online from the publishers for free. If you ask a question, he'll turn it around and ask the class "what they think" because he doesnt have a good answer. Easy A though.

SPEAK UP! ARTICULATE! ENUNCIATE! DO ANY OF THESE REQUESTS MEAN ANYTHING TO YOU!? This professor is COMPLETELY unable to lecture, his accent is so thick that it is impossible to decrypt his lectures and his lecture notes are all written in C++ PSEUDOCODE! We're NOT taking this class as a REFRESHER...

These ratings confuse 2 professors. Yih Huang (a member of the faculty is EXCELLENT! The other (Hwang, an adjunct)is TERRIBLE - late to class, unhelpful, a poor teacher teacher.

words can't describe how terrible he is. really needs to be fired. shows up for class 20min-1hour late every class, without fail. when he finally arrives, he is unprepared and has no idea what he's talking about. class often corrects him on material.

Straight forward and simple ...his favorite phrase, reflects his teaching style, and his tests..very fair, tests you on what is necessary to thrive in the working world and does not bother w/ trivial/mind consuming info unlike other CS211 GMU prof.
