Comment:

Her class is a joy. Some people find her difficult because she expects us to do the work she assigns after class on time - but come on, it's college. Expect homework. She is kind, knowledgable, and always willing to answer questions. Her class is fun, hands-on, and worth taking even if you aren't a STEM major.

Comment:

At the beginning of the semester there were more than 30 students, by the end there were only 15. Her lectures are unclear, she merely skims over topics quickly without giving full explanation- leaving her students lost and confused. The labs are difficult. Answers questions in a very passive aggressive manner... just don't.

Comment:

Stinson is literally the worst college professor I've ever had. You can't ask questions or she makes you feel bad about it, if you even peep a word in class she moves you across the class or yells at you. She should be teaching a high school class if anything. She doesn't realize how to teach people as they are adults. I would not recommend.

Comment:

A lot of what she tests on isnt directly written in the lecture. Make sure to not only write down lecture material but also what she says when explaining the topic. If you dont study for her tests you will not pass the class. The online homework is a great resource and will also help you on the tests. Put in the work and youll get an A or B.

Do not be like me and take this class because it was a "last option." Either wait for another semester or take a different class. Expect this if you take her class. 1 hour lecture, 2 minute explanation of main topics. 1&1/2 lab you won't understand. Condescending attitude. Do not ask questions. Textbook and lab are greater teachers.

Got the flu the weekend before the first exam. She said I could only take it the next day at 8am or the day after that at 2:00pm. No feel better! Or sympathy at all. When I told her I was still extremely ill, and sent her my doctors notes, she got back to me 2 days later and said its too late anf that i should drop the class. Horrible and mean.

Skipping more than two classes is an automatic fail so pay attention to stuff like that. Her tests are hard but she lays all of it out in her lectures so I recommend typing notes to catch more of it. She can be rude when you ask questions on class time so don't bother - just go to office hours. Overall I had an ok time though & I'm in humanities.

She's a bit scattered, but lectures are straightforward. I would recommend using the online test prep (masteringgeology) where the homework is done. A lot of material covered in lecture. People seem to have struggled a bit, but if you can handle the amount of notes and study, the class isn't impossible. A plus is having a note sheet for the exams!

She really is a nice woman, and I thought she really does care about her students and she's really passionate but I think she doesn't understand how to make her tests better. She takes points off for stupid things-like writing in pen. Make sure to STUDY and take notes on the lecture!! I put in some work and I received a C.

I don't know what all the fuss about is in the other reviews. Stinson is a great professor and has a deep understanding about what she teaches. She can be strict but she is fair. Follow her instructions, review the online textbook, study the labs, and it'll be possible to receive an A. She also offers extra credit. Put in the work. You'll be fine.

One of the worst Professors I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. Her class was boring, demanding, confusing, and overall just a bad experience. She is not a nice person, and is known to ridicule and belittle her students. Do not take this class, you will absolutely regret it

Horrible professor. Over half the class failed the exam, one person got a B and only a handful got C's and barely passed. Her questions are very unfair and she has a lot of trick questions. Do not take her. She is very unreasonable and expects way too much of her students.

I just finished this class last semester and just thinking about it gives me shivers. Stinson is one horrific professor. She is no help and not nice. She is everything you don't want in a professor. I seriously feel bad for anybody that takes her.

I've been a straight A student my entire life and have had some awful teachers, but Stinson tops them all. She is not nice and is unwilling to address your needs. Please don't make the same mistake that I did by taking her.

Not only are her lectures no help, but Stinson makes you feel stupid when you ask her a question. She acts like we should already know the answer. This is why she is an atrocious professor who should not be teaching.

Of all the the professors I had in college, Stinson was by far the worst. It was impossible to learn in her class. To make matters worse she wasn't even reasonable with her expectations. Her class was insanely difficult. Most people aren't majoring in the subject and she needs to realize that.
