Comment:
Ana speaks very clearly and I found her accent easy to understand. The class was overall quite easy, even if you are only coming from 203. She is very funny and makes class interesting, and as long as you come to class and do the daily homework (30 mins a day) you will do fine. She's a bit of a tough grader on written assignments.

She clearly loves her job and is extremely willing to help you if you're willing to do your part at home. If you actually try to learn the material you'll do well - she can tell if you don't put in the work. She's funny and isn't condescending, and is great at clarifying and answering questions. Going to class is a must. Would definitely take again

Regardless what language you are learning you need to put in your own independent work into it and get help with school resources available. Ana Val is somewhat of a tough grader. She is Basque and has a clear and globally understood Spanish. She is the head of the Span. Ital. and Fr. dpt. and cares about your success with a tough love approach.

She runs through the course a little too quickly for most but there is a lot of material to cover. She is more than willing to answer any questions. You MUST attend classes because she demands participation and gives a lot of feedback etc only during lectures. She is extremely sweet to those she knows want to be there .

Shes a wonderful prof. She is very nice. However, she does tend to make fun of students with other Latino backgrounds and her multiple choice exams are a nightmare. She is always available for extra help and she will always make sure you understand everything. Shes also funny and positive. The classes are hard if youre not a native speaker.

Treats this like its your only class and that every student is a spanish major, honestly unreal. used to love spanish until i had her as a prof. will call you out and belittle you in front of the class if you miss a class or in my case on our first day of class for not knowing the word for kinesiology. really bad experience

She is very clear with the content and is willing to clarify. The class is obviously very interactive and it is essential that you read the textbook. Testing isn't very difficult. Just pay attention, actually try, and keep in mind the easily fixable details because it is the difference between an A and a B.

Prof. Val teaches with enthusiasm. The assignments in this course are not especially difficult. There is a lot of reading, memorization, and homework. Your grade depends only on the effort you put in.

Really didn't like this class. Prof at times is incomprehensible, and completely removed all the confidence that I gained in 301. Heavy textbook use, and very 'clear cut' answers. Either you're right, or you're wrong, and if you're wrong, she patronizes you. Very much disliked.

This prof deterred me from taking anymore Spanish classes. She favors students and makes you feel insignificant if she doesn't like you. She is very very rude and very high on her horse. This prof is not recommended. By far the worst prof in the language department, even worse than the French ones, and that's saying something.

Great Spanish prof! There are a lot of graded components in this course. Do your homework before class, as you spend most of the lecture going over it. If you do the work you will do well in the course.

I really didn't like her, she picks on you in class and class was just her telling us to read stuff online out of class and talk about it in class. Definitely not a "Professor" more of just someone there to take attendance...

Ana is an amazing prof and hilarious person. I always looked forward to her class and she always made the students laugh. She is very helpful when you have questions and I think she grades fairly. Ana wrote me more than one letter of reference. If you do the work you will do well. Hope to take another of her classes. SPAN201,203,301,321

Excellent professor - clear, funny, helpful, enthusiastic, and all-around amazing. Her class is NOT hard if you do the work she asks, and you will learn a lot. It is quite possible to earn an A - you just have to be willing to work for it. My favourite Spanish professor by far.

Very nice prof! NOT a hard marker, unless you don't study. She always makes sure that the concept is clear to her students. Easy tests. Fun class! Accent might be a problem but you get used to it.
