This professor is really nice, but she has made an interesting course VERY boring. I did not mind all the writing and reading, but she made it more of an English course. If you want a fun and easy class this is not for you.

There are a lot of journals in this class that shouldn't exist. It SHOULD be a discussion class but was heavy on the papers and readings. There is a book in this class, do your best to find it for free on a pdf! She has not taught a class in person in years and it shows for papers. She is not a bad person by any means, just a lot of papers.

Everything is clearly explained for the student. Print out the lecture PowerPoint notes and keep them handy for when you take the exams (many questions are from the lectures and films, not the book), which are not cumulative! The book was easy to follow and interesting. She does offer extra credit, but they are essays.

Her assignments are really easy. The only problem is the exams. She asks questions strictly on her lectures. Example, In my lecture what example did I give for social stratification? To get a good grade read the book, watch the lectures, take notes, and do all the assignments.

She is fair in grading you definitely need to read the book even though its a tough read. Or at least know how to quote it. She is vey generous in extra credit and as long as you apply yourself you will be doing fine. Her class is fun but it all depends on the student interactions. Don't be afraid to take her class!

She is a horrible teacher. Her class is more difficult than it should be. She is not helpful whatsoever. I kept in constant contact with her but she refused to be helpful in any way. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER.

This class is pretty easy. She let's you take the quizzes twice so you can get 100% and the midterm/final are the quizzes. Plus she offers extra credit assignments. Didn't read the book or watch the lectures and I did just fine.

Took the online class. Pretty simple and straight forward.Do 1 primary discussion and follow up with 4 class discussion weekly.Save your quiz answers for the exams.Extra credit is given but it's difficult.Never watched the video lectures or bought a book and still managed to get an A. Lucky me I guess. But still, do well on your discussions!!!!!!

No, she is definitely not an easy A. You must work hard to do well. But to say that she is an awful professor or favors certain students is ridiculous. The people who gave such poor reviews probably weren't willing to put in the effort to do well.

Terrible view on sex and sexuality. You can not have an opinion different than the author of the texts. You will write more than 20 pages of nonsense for this class. This class could have been so much better. The guest speakers were boring, the lectures were boring. Take evolution of sexuality for a really good sex class.

Comment:
This professor is obtuse and annoying. She misses the point ALL the time. Yet she has convinced herself that she has a brilliant, nimble intellect for her ability to justify her Postmodernism with her Marxism with her advocacy and enthusiasm for brothel employees. Most grating habit: curling her upper lip when affecting high mindedness. Give it up!

I took Soc101 online and if you follow the weekly objectives such as quizzes, online assignments, discussions etc.., this class should be a breeze. She does offer extra credit so if you miss one discussion posting, it wont hurt you. She is strict when it comes to deadlines so watch out for those.

Dr. Brents is a good professor but she is really tough. You can pass her class as long as you don't miss any classes, don't wait until the last minute to do your journal entries and take home tests. The first part of the class before the midterm is boring because it goes back in history to talk about sex; after the midterm, gets a little easier.

I took her sociology class online and it was very straightforward and easy to follow. If you miss a discussion posting or quiz, she offers extra credit to make up for it. This class can be a really easy A if you just follow the deadlines. I definitely would recommend this class online!

I took this class online. I thought it was very simple.Same thing every week. Disc, lectures, internet assignment, and then a quiz. You can take the quiz more than once.So be smart and print out the first one and get 100 percent on the second one duh! Make sure that you are posting 4 disc, per week. That leaves us with the exams. Watch the lectures

I haven't had too much experience with Sociology, but I'm sure for a 101 class, it wasn't as easy as i thought it would be. She's a very confusing person to follow, and she makes a lot of mistakes for the distance education courses. Not organized at all. Choose someone else if you want to enjoy Sociology.

If you hate fighting the same fight about race, gender, class, then do NOT take this class. If it's your cup o' tea, take this class. Brents is a nice teacher and not biased (like most women's studies teachers) and the readings are monotonous and general. The books are good, but there are TOO MANY ridiculous e-reserves and journals. Mostly good.
