He seems like a really cool guy to talk to OUTSIDE of class and he is extreamly friendly...But in my opinion, the homework he assigns is WAY too much for this type of class...Dont get me wrong, its good that there is homework, there is though, a lot of pointless homework so be careful for what ya sign up for...Overall, helpfull but too much.

figueroa is the best professor/counselor at occ. he has a unique and great way of teaching. you learn so much in his class w/o even trying. just do your hw, show up to class, and you can use flashcards on tests. there is no way you can fail. highly recommend. everyone should take his class.

If you are looking for an easy A then this is the class to take, BUT you need to attend just about every class meeting AND there is busy work to complete as homework most meetings. He was a good guy, but very unclear about expectations sometimes (low anyways) and some of the classes just seemed completely pointless. You do learn some things though.

You are a fool if you do not take this class. Easy "A" and really fun. Test are really easy as he allows you to use note cards and gives you a study guide. Attendance is mandatory. Also sit in front of the class as he will give out one free text book. Make sure your the first one up to grab it or someone else is gonna run up an snake it.

Figueroa is an awesome teacher. He helped me become a better student and helped me choose what career would be perfect for me. You learn so much in this class not just about how to become a better student, but also how to become a better person. The class is always interesting too. Highly recommended professor AND counselor!

His class is always fun and energetic. You need the book for every homework assignment. You can use flash cards on all the tests. He is a great teacher/counselor who cares about all the students and tries his best to help. He's always clear and understanding. You'll do taichi and dance too. You can miss a few classes and turn in hw late. EASY A!!!!

The best teacher I have had so far in college, he was extremely nice and went out of his way more than once to help me out of class. Take him if you want a good grade, a caring professor, and skills that you will take with you for the rest of your life.

Prof. Figueroa is such a great teacher. We salasa danced, brought in pet lemons, and did tai chi. i would defanetly recomend this class to anyone who has a heavy workload for the rest of their classes because this one will not be stressful, but it is still 3 units!!! make sure you take figueroa for coun 102!
