Professor Miles is amazing. She makes sure that you understand the material and has no problem answering questions. As the semester went by the material got dense and a little boring but, just push through. Made a C with almost no effort so it's a decent course and you do learn a lot.

Comment:

Boring class. Don't take it at 7 pm if you can help it or you will just want to fall asleep. I found myself having to go back and read each chapter and take my own notes prior to each test. The labs were very easy, the tests were the hardest part. Just study and make sure you fully understand the concepts and you should do well.

Her class is easy to get a good grade. do your best in the two project, and study hard for the three exams, you will get a good GPA. but the class itself is not very interesting, sometime you feel very boring to attend the class.

Online Class. Labs (IDEA and EXCEL), quizzes and Tests. The Labs are easy and so are the quizzes. The tests are hard and they are timed. The lab portion is similar to the labs you do before the test but the multiple choice is hard.I have learned alot in the class about EXCEL and use it everyday at work. Highly Recommend.

Comment:

Took Carolyn Miles for 'Software Apps in Auditing'. The instructor really knows the material for this class. I will highly recommend this class to anyone interested in learning the practical side of Auditing. This class is FIS on steroids (be good with computers), not much hand-holding, about 12 computer labs and exam 50-50 theory/labs.

Very monotonous and almost robot like in her lectures which don't help much for exams. Pretty much you will be reading the book heavily if you want to do good in exams and final is 100 questions and comprehensive too. Also don't forget to do & review all the quizzes. The lab exercises ranges from easy to moderately difficult but are time consuming.

Comment:

Very nice, tests are somewhat difficult. Labs are 40% of your grade and pretty easy and she give directions for each lab (makes it even easier). Weekly quizzes...super easy...online and if you score 70 or above you receive a 100 on the quiz. I would take her again.

Took this class online. Weekly "quizzes" easy. Labs were moderately difficult. Not easy, but can be figured out by following the book. Exams are part MC and part Lab. The MC are difficult, labs on exam are not too bad. Would recommend.

Absolutely no point in going to class except to turn in labs. Lab assignments are about half of your grade and those are easy but the tests are hard & tricky so you have to read the long boring chapters and understand the concepts, lots of material.

Dumb Teacher that is horrible at teaching. Doesn't help to do the review b/c most of it doesn't even appear on test. You have to read the book to understand the tests. Her lectures are a waste and by the third class only 5 ppl showed up to class each week. That tells you how sorry of a teacher she is. So take class from another teacher.

Don't need to attend class b/c what she teaches doesn't appear on the test. Her MC tests are tricky and hard even with the review she gives. The book is all you need to pass. The other part of her class are labs and those are easy enough (Excel, Access, Visio, and Peachtree). Also dumb ch. quizzes count so have to pass those. Overall sorry class.

She is a really good teacher. One of the best at UHCL. So many profs at UHCL just want your money and attendance. She wants you to learn. I had her for 2 classes. Tests are a little tricky. Labs are easy.

If you're computer literate, the labs will be a sinch. Test are tricky. She spends 30-45min talking about club meetings, CPA Exam, etc. I wish we could get right into the material. I've gotten where I skip most classes and study on my own and have been making better grades.

Great instructor - very friendly. She really knows what she's teaching. Labs helpful. M/C exams a little tricky even if you study. Projects relatively easy - has lab assistant if you need help. Good class - wish we did more with auditing stuff -- that was fun!
