Very knowledgable and funny guy. He gives amazing lectures and reasonable exams. Homework is graded harshly but some questions are important for exams. Would definitely recommend

Homework is graded as harshly as you can imagine. Write paragraphs for everything, even if it asks for a brief explanation. At least the lowest is dropped. Class is relatively easy, but not as easy as earlier reviews made it seem. Very easy B, somewhat difficult A. Clicker is the only reason to attend lecture.

He's one of the most friendly and welcoming teachers I've had. As for his lectures, sometimes I feel that his slides are too unorganized but they are definitely great for studying for tests. (He posts them all online). He tries to encourage questions by passing out candy if you participate. Th class is a bit of work, but it's worth your time.

Took this class for a GE. Prof is amusing, but class is mostly basic high-school level astronomy and physicsalgebra. Lecture slides are posted online. Very, very easy class. Clicker requirement is obnoxious, though. I could've reviewed the slides and skipped several classes and still done fine, if not for the clicker participation grade.

Fassnacht is such a great teacher, he really loves what he teaches and it comes through. He's such a dork and it's adorable! I went to everyone of his classes and would definitely take him again

Fassnacht is a good instructor & a really smart teacher. I struggled w the formulas as I don't have a background in sci/math. HW was hard & graded harshly w/o feedback. I really enjoyed this class, BUT I don't know that I'd recommend it for someone who isn't a physics/chem major. It hurt my GPA & OH were limited to the professor's, no TAs/sections.

The material was super interesting. I've never taken a physics class in my life and I thoroughly enjoyed the course. Fassnacht is a huge dork, but it's pretty entertaining. He encourages questions and hands out candy if you ask one. It got really annoying though because my classmates asked trivial questions. Tests are fair, homework is REALLY hard.

O.M.G Why did I take this class as a GE? I don't know. Mandatory attendance because he has clicker questions. Grade based on HARD homework (who grades them? why are they so mean?), weekly online quizzes, 2 midterms, and 1 final. Very hard considering that it's only 3 units. I hope he curves the class. Had to change this class to Pass/ No Pass ....

Professor Fassnacht is a bit dorky and makes this class super fun, interesting and easy; very passionate about his job and subject. I took this course with NO PRIOR knowledge or anything about physics and the universe. There are a few physic equations involved but nothing that a beginner cant do. Review sessions help a LOT with studying for exams.

Professor Fassnacht is one of the best professors I've had. He is passionate about the subject he teaches, and he makes it really interesting for the students. He's comical sometimes so the lectures don't get boring. As long as you understand the powerpoints and have little to no knowledge of math and physics, you will do well in the class.

Prof. F is unorganized and his power points are extremely unorganized and don't follow the order of the book. His study guides are useless and the questions on the test are trick questions and extremely difficult.

sure he's a nice guy, but he's very unorganized and his power points are all out of order which makes getting organized for the midterms pretty hard. his midterms are sometimes trick questions and don't relate to what was on the study guide. he's a nice guy but just very unorganized. Other GE classes are easier than this.

Professor Fassnacht is great! Class is really interesting! Fassnacht is very helpful and enthusiastic about astrophysics, actually enjoys teaching! Go to office hours! One of my favorite professors at Davis! Take 25 if you are at all interested in physics

Professor Fassnacht was easily one of the most amazing teachers I've ever had! He's very passionate about astronomy and that definitely comes through in his lectures. He's very nice and easy to talk to if you have questions. Just make sure you do the reading, it will help a lot on the tests. If you need help on the homework, go to office hours!

this class was basically a mix of basic physics stuff. he does post all of his lectures which is nice, but doing the homeworks and going to lecture definitely isn't enough. you want to be sure to at least skim the readings. overall, it was a pretty good class, just not as interesting as it sounds.

AMAZING PROFESSOR!! The class was so interesting; I even considered changing my major. Def favorite class of the quarter. HW was okay. Two midterms, one final. Weekly short online quizzes. Great lecturer, very nice, helpful, patient, clear, funny; laughed at least once every class. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! A+ professor.
