Professor Palmer stands out as the best professor I ever had in any of my colleges. She helped me to become a better human being and educator for my adult students who live with disability. Caring, humorous, and she will totally expect your best at all times!

Very knowledgeable and passionate about what she teaches, but can also be quite passive aggressive, snappy, and stuck up. If you can handle that, I think she's worthwhile, but her attitude was off putting to me and made it hard for me to work with her.

Comment:
Dr. Palmer's lectures are epic,awe-inspiring, and never a waist of time. What's more, the professor peels back the past to get to the real core of things that many of us take for granted in society. Best of all, here is a professor at CAL that has more concern for her students (personal and academic) success, than meeting UC bureaucratic BS.

Professor Palmer is intimidating at first, but if you give her a chance and respect, she will give it back. I ended up taking her for several courses. Attend all lectures, read as much as you can, go to her office hours, and ask questions. She is an intelligent woman that you may not always understand, but you will learn a great deal if you try!

Palmer is not only a clever academic - Berkeley has plenty of those - but a good teacher; she manages to engage her students in discussion even in lecture settings, and coaches her students in producing clearer thoughts and better papers than they have before. Unless you are exceptionally lazy, it is difficult to do poorly under her instruction.

Comment:
Professor Palmer's classes are not for those who want to cruise by. However, if you apply yourself and have an open mind, her classes are amazing. Plus she's wicked smart! As for comments that she's rude or unhelpful, I wonder whether those individuals actually met with her, as I found her to be very approachable and a strong advocate for students.

This lady thinks that she is the all knowing God. She acts like she is entitles to the respect of al her students. I never even spoke to the lady and I could even see that. Her material is way more complicated than it should be. Her instructions are really wordy and confusing.

She can be very ignorant. Not very nice in person either. Her concepts are so much more simple when another student explains them than when she does.

This professor seems really cool in lecture but she is really very rude when speaking to her in person. She talks down to you and gets frustrated with you if you make a mistake that she has come across many times before with others. She makes her class material more complicated than it should be and therefore the class is HARD.

Professor Palmer is an alright professor as long as you keep up with the readings and follow along with the lectures. Do not just sit in class on your laptop because she tends to judge those whom she thinks are not paying attention in my opinion when grading papers. Overall her AS 101 class on the Harlem Ren. was nothing special.

One of the few classes that was intellectually engaging and exciting. Dr. Palmer has an amazing voice as well. If you want to take a class that will get you thinking and wanting to stay up all night talking about ideas, take one of her classes.

During lecture I googled some of the things she told us and she often got important facts, like names and dates, wrong. I am amazed she is still employed. If you are interested in American culture, you are way better off in a history course with a competent instructor. To top it off, she is egotistical and was rude to me in office hours.
