Tests are the majority of your grade, but she did make attendance and a few little busy work assignments part of the grade which really helped. I really didn't learn much from the lectures, most of the material she tested on was from the text not her lectures. I worked really hard for this C and I averaged an A in all of my classes last semester.

She's really weird but in a funny way. tests can be really hard though- she'll test you on stuff she barely mentioned in class. Very sweet and helpful though if you ask for help. But you gotta ask for it.

Dr. Thompson was my I.S. adviser and I loved every minute of it! I came into I.S. with pretty clear plan but an unusual and very ambitious project and she was totally supportive. She is very caring and answers emails faster than any other professor I know. She can be blunt and a bit tough, but, a great adviser! (Obviously, no textbooks for I.S.)

If she's teaching a class, buy the book they're using and read it-- you'll learn exactly what she's gonna teach. Don't bother taking the class. Friendly and nice, but bored me to tears and tends to ramble.

Unbelievable (and I mean that in a bad way). All the lectures are, as many people agree, are straight out of the text. Mandatory study guides every week make it feel like a high school class followed by tests with poor results from the entire class. She really needs to try to make the class interesting and at least pretend to enjoy teaching.

Terrible! Lectures are right out of the textbook. Chapter outlines are required every week. First exam mean...67. Have had classes where you eat smores or talk about Michael Jackson instead of doing work. Which isn't bad except the amount of work outside of class (chapter outlines) is absurd.

Teaches almost straight out of the textbook so it's boring. Mandatory study guides which she seems to have little to no system on grading for (ex. I turned in a 6 page studyguide and got a 12/15 while the kid next to me turned in less than a full page and got 15/15) She knows her stuff but I'm not taking another class from her.

If you are looking for a teacher to spoon feed you material, then take someone else, but if you want to challenge yourself and learn a lot then take her class. She is a great advisor and if you listen in class and advising appointments, you'll learn more than ever about the topic and for GREs. She knows her stuff.
