This course is tough. Most of the enrolled students are pre-something and hopes are usually dashed after one semester of this stuff.

Be prepared to work in this course. The most demanding course I have taken at our school and he is very intelligent, but shows flashes of arrogance.

I do not like to have problems with school or teachers. I have always done work and worked hard. I do not mind challenge and welcome it. However, I can say that in this class you can work your butt off and still struggle. I try my best and its not enough while he goes off on an egotistical rant about surviving grad school, Pray for easy tests.

So I took Organic Chemistry with this guy, and it was thoroughly unpleasant. His lectures were 2 1/2 hours long and maybe 15 minutes would be spent on chemistry. When he does manage to focus hes helpful but that doesn't happen often. If you ask for help during his office hours, chances are he won't be there or he'll refuse to help you. Good luck.

This man is so smart, it impairs his teaching. It's a 2.5 hr class, and he will go on several tangents - irrelevant to organic chemistry. You absolutely need the book to pass, because afterall, you teach yourself. Go to class anyway, he keeps a mental note. Always do test bank questions, he likes to use those on tests. Good luck, you'll need it.

By far the worst teacher I have ever had. You have to teach all of the information to yourself. He is very unhelpful and rarely stays on topic during class. During a 2.5 hr class, about 20 minutes is actually useful material. He is also very arrogant and rude. Very unimpressed with this professor.

Comment:
This class shouldn't be as tough as he makes it. Even if you understand all the material front to back you still won't do well because his tests never relate to the actual material from his lectures/book. He goes off on tangents all the time and the 3 hour lecture is rough!

Hard class. He is very confusing and goes off on random tangents during class. Does not explain anything in class, I basically had to teach myself the subject. Very arrogant when he speaks

Organic Chemistry is obviously a very demanding subject. I enjoyed Chemistry until I took Soriano's class. He doesn't explain the topics clearly and often goes off on tangents. For tests, he often pulls questions from other universities, MCAT's, and other national tests and not the textbook. Very discouraging. Not a happy student.

Soriano was very pleasant, fair and easy to understand. Organic chemistry is a demanding subject requiring steady effort. You must do the homework, retain information and think under pressure.

Organic is one of the most difficult chem classes there is. Soriano unfortunately is not a professor, public speaker, maybe, pompous conceded ass, definitely. If the tests were about his horrible stories of grad school or god help me those similes; im sure this class would have been a breeze. Unfortunately its chem. He does not teach. AT ALL!

Extremely good professor. Very clear with material that is important. Organic Chemistry is not an easy class. Study! He will tell you to do certain problems for homework(not collected). DO ALL THE PROBLEMS IN THE CHAPTER,not just the assigned ones. Get 2 more books do those problems also. Doing 200+ practice problems per chpt = A.Good prep for MCAT

Very interesting man. Surely one of the more memorable teachers I've ever had. Tries his best to teach his science while promoting abstract thought (thinking outside the box). Makes no assumptions but judges through character. Overall, an admirable teacher. People expect too much from teachers... don't expect to get babied, just work really hard.

Often goes off on tangents about how the world is going to end and his spiritual values. Likes to talk about how smart he is. Constantly goes over the allotted class time. Homework and lecture's have minimal relevance to test. At least he gives a practice exam before the test.

you cannont explain his strange/ irritating personality in words until you have a class with him. he started class 5 min early and ended it 5 min late. it's a very difficult subject to begin with- and he made it a lot worse. he's a brilliant man... and he knows it and makes it clear to everyone.
