He's a funny guy and makes lectures interesting. He makes you read three books and the reading questions count as the participation point for the day. For the final he allows you to use your notes which has all the reading questions. He also has a rule where if people leave he gives you a question from the final.

Attendance is mandatory so show up and answer the questions but save them in another place also because they will show up on the open note final. Lectures are interesting and he has the occasional funny joke or quote. Essays are easy you have all the info from lecture you only need to write two out of the three essays. No midterm. Not stressful.

Amazing lecturer! He is very passionate about the topic which will keep you interested throughout the whole class and is also extremely funny. However, make sure to go to both the lecture and discussion for attendance is mandatory. There are no midterms, only 2 essays and a final which is open note. Do the work and itll be an easy A!

Professor Frank was amazing! He makes his lectures very interesting with many videos and excellent examples. The class was based off of two papers, discussion participation, and the final exam. The essays are relatively easy and the final is straightforward. Great class and one of the best professors at UCI!

Awesome lecturer. Definitely passionate about what he's teaching & open to questions & discussion. Entire grade is based off of two 3 page papers & a final exam, but they're really easy. Show up to class, he counts participation by having you email him the answers to lecture questions at the beginning, middle, & end. Easy/short/interesting readings

Really easy class. Attendence is mandatory as there are two questions asked at the end of class about the reading, but usually you can google the answer or ask someone around you. There were 2 essays that were fairly easy to bs and a final which is really easy because it's open notes. Just bring in all the notes from the slides and you'll do fine.

Most interesting class I have taken so far. Professor Frank has amazing lectures where mostly involves discussions throughout the slides. Grade involves two essays, in class participation questions (one from assigned reading), and final exam. Show up to lecture and everything will go your way. I would not hestitate to retake a class with him again.

His lectures are fun but a bit long. He answers a lot of questions in class, but sometimes those questions take up 1/3 of class time. He asks participation questions throughout lecture, so you must show up to pass. Readings are not difficult and he asks one reading question per lecture. Overall, a fun teacher who isn't afraid to cuss in class.

Nice professor, but super hard books to read. I see a few of my classmates agree with me on this lol. He has a great personality, just needs to change those books !! Had a super sweet TA but hard grader. Don't think I am gonna get higher than a B in this course.

the class was really boring but the 2/3 papers you turn in are graded fairly easily. There is way too much reading. a total of 3 books. overall take another professor if you can

this class is meh. not interesting enough, but you gotta show up for attendance points. you cannot make up those points whatsoever. Discussion is graded, I found no use of. u have to do 2 essays out of 3. one final. no midterms. Class is generally not easy. Lots of boring readings-3 200-page books. I wouldn't take him again though.

Really nice and funny professor. He's great to talk to and engaging during lectures. Final is open note, don't really need the textbook for this class. Grade depends on TA.

Easy A. Chill & funny professor, makes class interesting by sharing personal stories connected to the topic. Reading is dense but not all of it is necessary since the final is open note. No midterm and only have to turn in 1 pg reading responses once a week and two 2 pg essays throughout the quarter. Discussion is mandatory but pretty interesting.

Very interesting professor. His stories are very entertaining.. Discussion requires you several short 1 pg double spaced essays and a couple 2 pg essays. Attendance in disc is graded. Final is open notes (no books - only notes). Final is based on questions given in the reading and exam questions he tells you at the end of lectures

This class is extremely difficult especially for a freshman student. I honestly had trouble with the readings and that is included in your final. I have not yet taken the final but I am completely afraid on what it has stored for me! It would be better if the discussion sections were actually useful.

Great professor, approachable. No interest on topic prior but that changed overtime. Hard and very dense reading so don't fall behind! Take notes on the reading b/c some final questions taken directly from the book. Professor & TAs very approachable & helpful. No midterm, open-note final, ppt posted before class. Would definitely take him again

Great professor and interesting class. There was only one final (which wasn't very difficult) and a few short essays (one page each). Only problem is that he requires his students to read almost an entire textbook.
