Great at explaining the tougher parts of Music Theory. If you put the effort into his class then you will do fine, but you have to work and understand everything in order to do well.

He is totally nice, patient and awesome. I will say, the Textbook that everyone is saying you don't need, helps some people like me who needed it for practice. It's a good way to get the stuff to actually stick if you are new to music theory. Fundamentals are really important. In Theory 1 you have three books and they all get used!

Mr. Jones is a very patient and caring professor. He takes time outside of class to make his students understand the material being presented. Take good notes and study outside of class and you should be good. Make sure to listen during lectures and take plenty of notes. I would definitely recommend him and take him again in the future.

I have no music background. I've always liked music, but never had any inclination to learn. He is amazing and very helpful in the classroom and office hours. I just graduated, but plan to take more classes with him. He is a very good teacher, and will give you a strong appreciation and love of music!

I cannot say enough nice things about Prof. Jones. Very relaxed, patient and willing to teach his students. He knows music theory, and teaches it very well. I took it over the 5wk summer session without any issues.

Comment:

Very easy class. Never used textbook. Test are about over two weeks and he goes over exactly what will be on the test every class period leading up to the test. Not much homework at all. If you have an music experience the class is a breeze. In our first 5 tests I only missed one question with an average test grade of 102%. class is Recommended!

Took a 5 week summer class, very easy. I think Prof. Jones is the best teacher at ACC. Really laid back and funny. The type of guy you just wanna hang out with and talk to about music. The class requires little to no homework, and the tests are super easy. Everyone in my class made an 'A'.

As far as a teacher goes, hes fantastic. He knows what hes doing and knows how to help you understand it. His job is to help you through this class with an understanding of theory, and he does it well. As a person, well hes just a nice guy. Great sense of humor which makes learning all that much easier.

Awesome teacher. If it wasn't for his teaching I would never had understood it. You will rarely use the book. He gives handouts that are copied from the book for practice and he goes over them thoroughly in the next class. I highly recommend him!
