Comment:
Heavy accent and speaks quietly. Generally a lenient grader, but inconsistent and sometimes a lazy grader. For example for the final group presentation he just gave everyone 4.5/5 despite fairly varied levels of quality in work. Takes attendance if a lot of people don't show up.

The language barrier is difficult but prof Xuan really is a nice guy. Class isn't too bad so long as you study what's in red on the powerpoints and do all the work!

The class was pretty informative. The JPEG lab was nice and insightful. The exam review was very helpful. He is a really nice person. But the class is very easy as long as you pay a little attention, so if you don't like easy classes, you will find it boring.

He is as nice as he is incomprehensible. Super pleasant to talk to, if you can understand what hes saying. Class was fairly easy, just talk to him, do the work, get your A. In-class discussions are complete babble.

Horrible horrible teacher. Worse English than your average foreign instructor. Has little to no actual understanding of the subject material.

Xuan is hard to understand sometimes, but it doesn't really matter for this class. Just memorize the red slides for his test and make sure you write your presentation and paper how he wants you to and you'll do fine. Don't buy the book, we didn't use it once. By far the easiest tech elective out there, good GPA booster.

Doesn't speak or understand English very well. He deducted points from my final because he didn't understand the vocabulary; it wasn't Korean (only reason I got an A-). Makes you participate in his pet research project to solve what multi-factor authentication already does well. Rarely in office hours. He is the only professor teaching the subject.

Great class, really easy, one midterm and one project at the end of the quarter. Midterm will cover his red slides, so make sure you know everything that is on the "RED SLIDES", trust me easiest CSE class at Ohio State.

his speaking volume is quiet but if you try to sit in the front, its not a big deal...his class is pretty easy and gives some good analogies to help you understand...pretty nice guy too

Pro's: He had some good analogies for various networking concepts that helped me to understand them and do well on tests. Cons: Unless you're sitting in the front of the classroom, odds are you *will not* hear him. He doesn't speak in a clear, authoritative tone of voice, and that combined with his strong accent makes him difficult to understand.

Could not understand what he was saying in class, because no one could hear him! Plus, he doesn't really speak English, so that makes it even more difficult to understand him. Tests weren't bad, but was mainly writing down pseudo-code for useless crap. Otherwise an interesting class.

Very low-quality instructor. He doesn't know much about the stuff he teaches & probably won't be able to tell you anything besides what you have already known. This guy doesn't even deserve a single star. He should have been fired or assigned to teach 100-level courses.

Let me be perfectly clear. I am a CSE Junior with a 3.9GPA...I tried...every day to understand this person. I studied every night to no avail. If you ask him a question he literally doesnt answer because he doesn't understand. I dropped he class after 3 weeks of trying my best. Dont waist your time...

Don't take his class. Its completely non-sense & useless. He can't answer any questions outside what's written in textbooks. He doesn't really know about anything going on in the industry. Believe me, your just wasting your time with him.

It's not hard for me to understand him, but unfortunately, his class is kind of boring and useless. I don't think you will learn anything valuable after this class.
