Comment:

Hes funny and has a pretty laid back personality. He sure likes his history. His exams are not too hard but he is only one of the four professors for this course. Make sure you read the lecture notes and book. It really helps to go to class but its at 9am, so at the exam you see all these people you've never seen before.

Go to his lectures and pay attention to the people he talks about that have discovered/researched certain things! thats what hes mostly interested in. and his lecture notes have fill in the blanks which he wants you to come to class to fill it in.

EXTREMELY HARD CLASS. If you can avoid him, do so! The test had a lot of "history" questions. He goes very quickly thru slides. The curve for this class is madness. He also puts stupid little comic strips in the middle of every lecture. Just don't take his class if you can help it.

Comment:

His microbiology class is significantly better than Keating's. The hard part of the class is from the lab which is annoying especially if you TA is a hard grader. Because its in the morning, get 8 hours of sleep so you are awake enough to write down his comments. They will be on the exam. MC are from his notes and short Questions from the book.

Lectures are straight from the notes. Easy exams. All memorization. Easy B+. He will add a question from the lecture that will be worth about 8 points, so if you don't go to lecture ask around for what it is. You'll know what I mean. Overall not bad.

I don't know why people are so against him. He is a very brilliant person and you can tell by looking at this lectures. He is tenured, but he chooses to provide students with a good starting point for this class. Go to lectures and pay attention in class. Read lectures beforehand. Go to office hours after reading both. He is very good at his field.

This professor was the hardest of them all. The 1st exam class average was a 37. He breezes through the slides, and doesn't give any slight hint as to what key information will appear on the 1st exam. The only positive thing I can say about this professor is that he obviously knows his stuff, and is most of the time nice.

Funny professor, enjoys teaching. Lectures contain a lot of material and he tends to rush through the slides. I recommend going to lecture because he puts material on the exam that is not in the notes. You will have to memorize who discovered what and know people he mentions. Questions were tough, but not impossible if you remember details. STUDY!

Extrememley nice guy. Very knowledgable and passionate about his field and its rich history. Sadly most students don't share that level of passion for microbio. I don't think he fully gets that fact after 30+ years of teaching.

What a nut job! He's a crazy old British man who can't stop talking about FUNGI! He's not easy either. Will make students look dumb in front of the whole class. Lectures don't make any sense. Hands out lecture notes of 100 pages and breezes thru them like we already no what he's talking about.
