Comment:
The only thing that she did to really urk me was that she didn't cancel rehearsal the day President Obama came to BGSU. That definitely left me disappointed. But, she is and was extremely understanding to any other problems I had and was completely wonderful otherwise. She usually picks good grad assistants, but its obvious when one annoys her.

As for the comment that the rep's too hard: welcome to the life of a pro musician! She prepares her group for their future career. If you can't keep up, don't hold others back. You may call her a "musical diva" when you have degrees RCM and Eastman and are the first woman to get a conducting degree from both. Oh, too late! BG is lucky.

Good conductor. Is in her own world and rude in some occasions. But over all a great director. Blame the strings for the programs lack of greatness

Let's be completely honest. She is an excellent conductor. I was never left wanting for a cue or a clear downbeat. Those who are looking for a music ed-style rehearsal will be disappointed. She is a professional conductor. BG could have one of the country's best orchestras under her, but the blame goes to unprepared players, not the director.

Fantastic conductor. If this strings would practice a little more, this would be one of the finest orchestras in the country.

Had an overall negative experience with this professor. She picks literature that is way too difficult for the group, and is incapable of communicating ideas for improvement with the orchestra. I agree with the "diva" label. It's all about HE

Good conductor, but the literature she selects is generally too challenging for the ensemble. Often very unclear, tries to correct everything by saying "more expressivo" to students...

I resent her label as a "bad teacher." She teaches simply by demanding, and communicates well. If you don't like her style, go hang in band with the "good" teachers. I'm sure you'll hear pretty stories, but you won't learn as much.

Dr. Brown is a really good director. You just have to be on her good side. She strives to be the best and there is nothing wrong with that.

Verbally Abusive, misses class consistently, musical diva. She is a fabulous conductor, but can't teach worth a dime.
