I had little to no experience with studio lighting prior to this class. After finishing his class, I was somewhat of an expert. Listen to him and be willing to take initiative, and you will be just fine!!!!

Hes a very "by the rules" type of photographer but he appreciates GOOD photos that break the rules. Most people complain because they don't want constructive criticism and are glued to their "instagram aesthetic". Put your pride aside and actually listen to him, you'll learn a lot. He goes above and beyond for any student who is willing to learn.

LISTEN, he's good at what he does, but I literally had to completely change the style of how I shoot to get a good grade in class. I hated every moment of it because it was his way or the high way and I felt drained of creativity at the end of it. Shame.

Eric is very informative and talkative on so many subjects and details. You can learn so many useful techniques for your photography in his class. My work improved a lot after taking his class. His critiques of your work are not opinionated, they are visible and explainable. That has a lot of value in the real world.

Previous classes I took with Eric were wonderful; he's very helpful and knowledgeable. But something happens when he teaches Editorial. Very few class critiques and he mostly just skimmed over photos, he was hard to pin down for due dates and the syllabus wasn't any help. Maybe some people liked it but the lack of order made it hard for me to learn

It is near impossible to please this man. If you catch him on a good day, awesome. If you don't? Good luck. He can be a real jerk if you aren't careful. Also, get on his good side or he'll be a nightmare.

Eric is incredible. He's a talented photographer and his critiques are useful, honest, and never hurtful. He is a wonderful professor and I'll take any class of his that I can get into. He goes the extra mile for his students. Even ones he has just met. The difficulty level of 1201 is about what you'd expect and Eric tries to make it easy for you.

Very fun, exciting class. Everyday you learn something new. Its quick and to the point and Eric is great with critique and is very helpful and is always willing to help. Just don't leave class without asking for any reason...kinda childish but you have to ask. Besides that, it's a lot of fun!

Amazing!!! So helpful, always available for his students.. Get him to know you by name and he will help you any way he can.. If you do exactly what he tells you to, in your own style, you'll get an A!

Awesome instructor, will bend over backward to help you out on anything you need! Nicest person! His teaching style is very strict, however, you will learn lots if you pay attention and to the homework. He does require note taking in class. Photography classes are time consuming but very fun!

Eric has trouble remembering what he has critiqued, and what he has said from one day to the next. From an editorial perspective, on his good days, you want to know this man. However good days seem few and far between. His knowledge and teaching ability are often clouded by some stress related distraction. His demands shift along with his moods.

I wonder what these people who talk about shooting Eric's way are doing. Eric is honestly the most amazing professor I have ever had. Eric is all about knowing the Market, Tell a story, and Find and editor. Photography without thought is careless. Eric will change your carelessness.

Eric is really cool. At first you may not like him, but you need to get to know him. Deep down he is a cool guy, even thoughat first he might seem like a jerk. By the end of the semester I had ALOT of respect for him.

Eric is one of the best teachers I have ever had. His critiques are excellent and he goes out of his way to make himself available. He really knows his stuff. Is so friendly. He'll make you work, and isn't afraid to tell you if your shoot failed (a must to learn!), but he will tell you what you can try the next time. Excellent.

Eric is very knowledgeable in photography. Even if you dont shot his style, he can pick up talent. I had him in a film making class, but before even taking that class, he knew of my still photography and encouraged what I did. I knew I had "a fan" even without dealing with or being influenced by him.

Is unable to offer constructive criticism of any style outside of his personal style. You shoot like Eric, you get rave reviews and good grades. You don't shoot like Eric, you get denigraded and bad grades. He managed to discourage more than one student and causes you to doubt your personal vision. It really comes down to a personality thing.

Eric is awesome! I would recommend his classes in a heart beat. He really knows his stuff and have a silly sense of humor. VERY helpful. Will help you edit your portfolio any time you need help with it. Even though he does have his own style, he's generally open to anything new and exciting, as long as it's tasteful and asthetically pleasing.
