Definitely a difficult class, and Dr. Eslinger is so smart that I think it's sometimes difficult for him to teach a lower level class. I like his teaching style and the class was definitely interesting, but definitely don't take it if you're not willing to put in the effort. He's a great guy and teacher though!

Although the class is very tough I very much so enjoyed Professor Eslinger's teaching style and class. The field trips at first seem silly but actually are really helpful bc it is related to the material. Very challenging course. Not meant for non-geology majors, only those ready to put forth the effort. Do not consider this class if you are lookin

Elisinger is awesome. there is a lot of stuff for an intro class, but its all necessary. he tells you what you need to know and nothing more. except his fun little side comments. and thank god for a teacher that sees the use of field labs!!!! totally made the whole class worthwhile.

Pretty intense for a basic geology class. He thinks he's funny but he's really not. A nice guy, though. Gives pop quizes every-other class, but throws a few extra in, too. You have to work pretty hard to get an A.

I broke my ankle during this class and couldnt go on the field trips.. he was very understanding and let me write papers. There is A LOT of stuff to remember, but its not too bad.

Are u people for flippin real?! My entire class passed by the skin of our teeth, not only was it an insanely hard basic geology class but those damn fieldtrips are uncalled for especially when we had to go in the pouring rain and freezing temps.!

LOTS of information thrown at you for an 'intro' class. Great guy though, funny at times, and will go far to make sure you understand. Field trips we very dangerous, be prepared for a work-out.

good teacher-very helpful-made a point to get to know everyone-field trips added a bit of fun-weekly quizzes were the worst part - but without them we would've failed the final ...Only negative is that we had no idea what was going to be on the final!
