Comment:

Pretty much an "absentee parent". No lectures, minimal contact, read book, do homework, take tests. Economics is not difficult, but there is absolute bare minimal interaction. Replies to e-mails when contacted, but this is basically independent study. This seems to be a thing with ECU Finance Courses, at least for Distance MBA course work.

Comment:

Too much in terms of assignments and projects that are not applicable to the 4 detailed exams. Extremely difficult class for anyone who works full-time. Professor seems to give tons of work for no reason other than "just because." It would be better if the vast amount of problems done in the assignments were more relevant to the conceptual tests.

Heavy use of text + author's online tool for homework HW is time consuming but lets you do 3 attempts at each question and takes top score 4 Exams, 3 proctored, all based on author's test bank questions; tests are heavy on definitions and theory; HW does not align with exam 3-person group paper on key economic principle Responds well in BB

Comment:

Projects are straight forward. As long as you follow the instructions you will do good on them. Lets you take quizzes twice to try to improve your score but will not let you see which questions you got wrong on the first attempt so its hard to improve too much. Test are very challenging and very specific. Wouldn't recommend to non finance majors

Comment:

The toughest finance class I've taken at ECU &I like finance. My biggest issue with the class was that we're tested on 4+ chapters with multiple, multiple formulas that were very detailed & we couldn't have any sort of cheat sheet. It's nearly impossible to learn 30+ detailed formulas in such a short amount of time & then do it again per exam.

Took as a DE class. Class was challenging, but good. Cover a chapter per week. Read the book and listen to his power points and you will be fine. Projects are time consuming, but start early and it isn't overwhelming. no group projects or required discussion boards. Learned a lot in this class.

He is a good guy and a great professor, but this class is by no means easy. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you need to go to class and pay attention to what he says, otherwise you will probably be very lost. Tests are very hard and he doesn't tell you what specifically will be on them, so study hard.

I dont get this guy. Everyone told me how funny he is, but he must be getting too old. His humor is outdated and dry, and whatever his projects are supposed to teach us end up being just busy work. He's definitely ready to retire (but wont admit it to himself!)

He is rigorous, clever, and otherworldly witty. You cannot fake it with Schadler: either you're good or you're a chump. Read the book, engage with him, and follow his guidelines; otherwise, you're in for a long semester.

Avoid this instructor unless you are already familiar with investing. I finished my undergrad with a 4.0 GPA, but I found myself wondering in this course "What the ##$@ is going on?" "What does he want?" What he covers in class and the material he tests on are completely different.

Really funny guy, tells great jokes. But I signed up to LEARN about investing, and right now seems ideal to learn about why everything is dropping like a rock. His projects take FOREVER and PURE BUSY WORK! Not sure Im really learning anything in here and it takes SO MUCH TIME! If Dr.Schadler would actually TEACH us something, he'd be great at it.

Echo that last comment. I'm not sure I learned ANYthing about finance in here I didn't already know, but i certainly know HOW he wants his projects done! If only someone else taught this. I used to be REALLY intersted in finance, but nobody teaches you anything about investing here!

Hes a nice guy but is a very tough/unfair grader. Learning the material comes second to crossing your T's and dotting your I's; in my opinion of his class. He does offer extra credit at the end of the semester tho.

I love this man...If you go to his office and talk to him, you will learn a lot..He is so laid back if you know him..Hes funny and really wants to be a good professor..He wants students to learn and retain the information..he is a wonderful man..the two exams are hard, but the projects teach you a lot

Dr. Schadler is a very good profesor as well as very good advisor he was very helpful to me. I was in the online section and I enjoyed his class and some of the projects. Some projects were a little long but you learn from them. Good teacher wants you to learn and encourages you to ask questions. Was very nice and was there when i needed help.

The class is not hard, but the projects are tedious. Don't wait until the last minute to start on your projects. The easiest project is project 2. Make sure you are very detailed on all your projects. Dr. Schadler is always available to help, just let him know that you don't understand and he'll do all he can to help. Interesting class!

Dr. Schadler is difficult. The projects are long and arduous, but the class is almost fun SOMETIMES. There is a lot of work to do, but you take a lot away from the class.

Overall good teacher, however, there is a lot of work to do...especially in the online section. You will have your work cut out for you either way with him.
