His nightly readings are short but they are confusing. You read from one book, the entire semester and it is so difficult to understand. At the start of the semester we had daily reading quizzes on the readings which most failed and he eventually gave up on those. If u ask questions he confuses u more. midterm blue book, final is 10 page paper

Dr. Culpepper is kind and funny, but his civ lectures are hard to follow. He would write an outline on the board, but it wasn't clear what notes fit under which heading. His seminar discussions can be confusing as well. He really does care about his students, though - he was even willing to pray with us before our final exam.

Culpepper is one of the worst professors I've had at PC. He's a really nice guy, but not a good teacher. He let us out late every single class and his lectures made no sense. Take any 300 level theology besides Contemporary Christian Thought, it was easily the worst class I've taken so far- avoid at all costs.

Take his class. Easy B+ or A- if you work for it (I didn't do the reading and I still got an A-). For a theology professor, he's a gem. He respected my different opinion. Love him. No exams, just papers. He's super scattered so he's really understanding if you're also a mess.

Dr. Culpepper is by far one of the best teachers I have had a PC. He cares for and respects all of his students and is extremely helpful with writing papers. He is always clear about what he expects students to know and cares deeply for student progress. Although theology is not my favorite subject, I would definitely take another class with him.

Dr. Culpepper is a great professor, a class act, and just an all-around great Catholic intellectual. You might not agree with all of his points or opinions, but he will respect your disagreement with total grace. Take him, and enjoy, and learn.

Dr. Culpepper is an AWESOME teacher. Not only was he fluid and clear in his lectures, he loved answering questions from his students and explained them perfectly. He loves what he talks about and knows a lot. Really humble and nice man. If you had any kind of trouble understanding the material, he was here to help. Def recommend him.

He is not terrible in Civ but he is as clueless as the students. He relies a lot of his teaching on what students say and is always asking questions back to you. Disorganized a little in thought and goes off on tangents and then second guesses himself. Pleasant disposition, friendly guy.

Dr. Culpepper is great! I had him for Theology for Aquinas, and it was an excellent class. He assigns a brief reading each night, and has quizzes based on them. Fortunately these aren't too tough. He is a very tough grader on essays and exams, so expect to put a lot of effort into writing. His lectures do very well at explaining the material.

Not easy, if you want an A, I would avoid him. Otherwise a kind man engaged in reality. A difficult grader and sometimes disorganized. You will learn something, but he might trash your GPA if you aren't engaged in the class.

Gary Culpepper is the most adorable man alive! Although he's a tough grader, he's always available for extra help and loves when you come to him. His class is one of the harder theology classes if youre just taking it for a requirement.

Dr. Culpepper is an extremely knowledgeable theologian, with a particular gift for making the complexities of Aquinas accessible to his undergrad students. He only uses one $30 textbook, which is a plus. Be aware, he assigns two to three pages of reading each night (very simple), but this reading is mandatory; don't expect to do well w/o doing it.

A class-act. This guy may be the greatest professor I've ever had and I wasn't even interested in theology. Had him for Civ and took him again because he respects his students and expects his students to be able to think critically. A brilliant man and a phenomenal person. TAKE HIM

Nice guy, definitely NOT an easy class. Pretty tough grader... you have to be a really good writer or you're screwed. Lectures are usually interesting. Definitely have to attend every class or you'll be lost. Not an easy A at all.

He is a very goood person, warm and friendly. As a professor, he can be absent-minded. He is forgetful and is unable to handle more than one task at a time to the point that he is unresponsive to you. Be aggressive with him and politely remind him of your concerns. Just approach Dr. C as much as possible. Show interest! He likes questions!

He's always fair and understanding; strives to be as clear as possible, as he knows the material isn't always easy to grasp. Very personable and extremely intelligent. Dr. Culpepper is a great guy. I thought that he was a bit demanding on what he wanted in the essays for the tests, but he's not ridiculous with it. Very helpful and always around to answer questions.
