Tells you almost exactly what is going to be on the midterm and final, study the HW and handouts and you'll pass, gives ALOT of partial credit since tests are taken in green books. 4 quizzes, I found these to be harder b/c they focus on concepts, study hard for these (drops lowest score). Would have barely passed w/ another professor, TAKE HIM

Professor Petry is great! Nothing unexpected on his exams. He tells in advance what to expect and what problems to go over. Nothing hard. He is also very caring. He is extremely quick on responding to emails. I've learned a lot. You should definitely take his class

Comment:

Gerard Petry made this class very understandable and easy for us. He gives a lot of group quizzes and one midterm and a final. He's clear in what he looks for in the midterm so as long as you go to class and do the homework, you will pass the class. This teacher made the lectures interesting and he wants his students to learn critically.

Comment:

Very boring class, but it is essential to attend class if you want to know what's on the test. There will be at least 4 announced "pop" quizzes that's worth 20 percent of your grade, but they are group quizzes. The test are relatively easy since Petry will tell you what's exactly on the test and gives a lot of partial credit.

If you do the homework, or at least study it before the test, you will pass. This is a difficult course but his tests are reflective of the practice problems. He also gives a lot of partial credit. The mid term and final are 80% of your grade. The other 20% is quizzes. These are group quizzes - everyone can work on them together.

goes thru problems step by step in every scenario possible, which makes it easier for students to grasp the concepts. midterm & final are pure calculations, but i found them are easier than multiple choice exams. cannot say anything negative about him, he's the best!

Best professor I had at csun. He really wants you to understand the concepts & learn the science & practicality of finance. there is 1 midterm & 1 final, 1 written assignment, 1 case, and 5 "unannounced" announced quizzes. love this guy. would HIGHLY recommend!

A+++++ for this teacher! He's not the type of nasty professors that want to see the students sweat a river. The exams are easy. On top of it all, he's a nice guy. Highly recommended. One of the best professor in CSUN I promise.

He teaches the things applicable to every day finance. He is nice, but seems to be a little tired of teaching. However, it could be the case that he is discouraged by the students who are just there for the grade and not to learn. He is an understanding person and a good teacher.

One of my favorite classes. He teaches in way that students can easily understand and learn the material. I got an A in the class, but you have to put in the work. Do all the homework and participate in class, and you should be fine on the test. I wish more professors taught like him!

If you're interested in corporate finance and just interested in graduating, take this class. This was my favorite finance class at CSUN. He's a busy corporate executive and he doesn't waste our time; his lectures are short, lets us out early; tests are straightforward & no tricks. Basically a review of what you learned in earlier Finance classes.

Hardly shows up to lecture-only 3 exam questions including 1 essay. Overall, easy prof.; he provides exam questions a week before testing. Good class to take provided you have memory skills. Not much to learn in this class.
