Comment:

Pretty okay prof. Class is a little boring at times but Danziger's really passionate about his subject. Discussions are mandatory but were pretty useless. 1 group policy memo. Midterm and final were pretty hard in the sense that you had to answer scenario questions and apply what you learned in the class. There's also weekly extra credit points.

Comment:

There is a lot of reading but they are useful for background knowledge especially on exams. Midterm and final are open book/note on your laptop but the questions really make you think and you won't find the answer on the internet. He is a really great professor that cares about his students and it is clear that he loves teaching!

Professor Danziger is a really caring and understandable person. His lectures are sometimes a little borning but overall he is a good lecturer. There is an in-class midterm and final both of which are open notes/books as well as electronics. There is also a weird mini group project and a policy paper with another classmate. Study and you'll be fine

Comment:

This class was a really positive surprise and I was more interested in it with every class. Danziger is a great lecturer and really connects with students. If you come to class and do most of the reading, you'll do fine on the open book exams and the paper. There are some fun activities in class too.

Comment:

A class with Prof. Danziger is one where you will want to come every day. Great lectures but also a lot of interaction. Many very interesting topics. Open book essay exams that challenge you to think. I wish I could take more classes from him but he doesn't teach many.

Professor Danziger is a gem. He really inspires students to learn. His lectures are great and he interacts with students a lot. I wasn't sure about "metro politics" but it turns out he covers many really important and interesting topics like crime, poverty, education, and development. Two exams, open book essays, a paper, participation. Best class!

Fantastic professor. Great lectures, interesting activities in class, and the exams are open book, challenging but fair. You will cover really interesting topics like crime, education, and poverty and look at issues from all sides. Take him!

Professor Danziger taught one of the most interesting courses that I had the opportunity to take. I recommend for anyone to take this class if you are interested in how local politics functions. The lecturers were cohesive as Professor Danziger is very experienced /knowledgeable about the characteristics and functions of local politics.

If you have an opportunity to take a class with Prof. Danziger I would highly recommend it! His lectures are very engaging and necessary for the exams. This course really lays a great foundation for anyone looking to get into local govt/politics. In addition to 122A he also offers Independent Study (PoliSci 199), which I will be taking this fall.

This is one of the best classes and best professors I've taken in my years at UCI. Professor Danziger is super smart, and just a great teacher. He is a fantastic lecturer and encourages every student to be interested in the course. There are two essay exams and a policy analysis paper, and you will do well if you have read and gone to lectures.

Professor Danziger is one of those gems that's hard to find. He genuinely cares for his students and you can tell that he loves his job! The course itself wasn't difficult, no assignments, just one midterm and final. He really focuses on conveying the material rather than anything else. 10/10 would love to take another course with him!

Easily one of the best professors I've had while at UCI. Professor Danziger is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also takes the time to learn about his students. His lectures are enhanced by his personal experiences with city government and going to his office hours are a treat. He only teaches once a year so you should take him if you can!

Professor Danziger is definitely one of the best I have taken in 4 years at UCI. Really interesting lectures, very interactive with students, important topics, some fun activities. Two open book tests, but not easy, plus a policy paper. I'd take every course of his that I could.

Danziger is the man. 122A Metropolitan Politics is one of the best classes I've taken at UCI. Danziger really cares about the material and makes the course material so much fun. Professors like him are hard to come by, but you will learn for sure. Midterm, paper, and final are decent but not impossible.

Danziger is a uniquely fantastic professor. His lectures are interesting, relatable, enjoyable and highly applicable to both college and your career. He gives students an understanding of how politics works at the local level and is quite adamant about encouraging political participation that goes beyond the ballot.
