If you don't appreciate this professor, you probably shouldn't be in college. He is very thoughtful, passionate, and brilliant. I was immediately draw in by his depth of knowledge, ability to communicate well, and his easy dry wit.

Kiely is a baller. Spent 3 months in China with him. A lot have my friends have had him at Furman and love him. He knows more about China than my entire family knows about America. Despite the fact he is so intense, Kiely is warm and has a great dry humor. He really cares about his students and the subject he teaches.

He's my advisor and I think he's absolutely brilliant. He is interesting and very passionate about his subject. Sometime his lectures seem to go on and on. It's more because of his voice rather than the actual material. There weren't any tests in this class - just a lot of discussions and a huge term paper. Deal with it. You're in college.

Dr. Kiely is a great teacher. He is very knowledgeable and not really intimidating, more funny and approachable. Loves Chinese history, very passionate. Not that hard. Lots of reading, dont really have to do it.

I had wayyyy to much trouble with this one. His lectures are confusing, boring (to me anyways), and therefore nearly impossible to take notes to. The reading is equally as boring so nothing is soaked up. This all leads to slow classes, bad grades, and a very very mad history 11 student. If you love history it might be diff, but otherwise beware.

Very passionate about this subject, which makes him think you want to devote your entire term to it. It included lots and lots of reading, and a term paper, but no tests. An intimidating but helpful man.

Very intelligent, but drones on forever and ever. If you show up interested in the topic you will leave bored. His classes aren't that difficult, just make sure you don't have a life so you have time for all the tedious reading. He is willing to help you out if you have trouble, though.

I've taken two of his classes at FU and was with him during study abroad in China last fall. Amazing guy. Absolutely one of the most intellegent proffessors at FU. there isn't anything he doesn't know about or knows personally a person who has written about it. Probably not good if you dun do your work. attendence is strict but he makes you work hard for your grade and after all isn't the whole point of learning to LEARN and not just get a good grade??

The man lectures at the speed of light. It's like he doesn't realize that not everyone knows Chinese phonetics. He doesn't answer emails either. In short, the man is a walking ****.

Terrible, awful HST 11 teacher. His class is not Western Civ, it is way more focused on Asian stuff (his specialty). His lectures are very unclear, and it is impossible to keep up with him while taking notes. You must memorize everything he says and all reading assignments to do well. He's very helpful if you go meet with him though!

Do not take this man for history 11...he is very unclear and will never give you constructive advice on your papers. Treats this intro course like you are a history major. Definetly the worst professor for history 11...

Absolutely amazing! Study abroad was so much fun because of him! He's the most knowledable person at furman about China and so many other things in general. He expects a lot out of his students- so don't slack off. His lectures are clear and interesting. Kiely truly cares about his students.
