Comment:

Professor Steigerwald is one of the best professors at York. She is great with opening up conversations and is passionate about her lectures. A lot of reading, but readings were interesting and gave a lot of discussion. Great prof!

Comment:

Professor Joan is one of my favourite professors in all of my years at this school. She is a wonerdful professor who really cares about her students doing well in the class. If you dont slack off, you will definitely get a good grade and Professor Joan will help you through out the course. She tries her best to make you share your opinion.

Comment:

Nice Prof, passionate about her work. Shes not absolutely amazing, but if you have her no need to worry. Fair grader as well. the class material was useless, but I actually learned some important skills like critical analysis which I didn't expect. If you put in the effort (which isn't even that much) you'll do well!

I didn't have her as my T.A. However, her lectures were long and you cannot miss a class! She gave really great examples throughout the year to help students to understand the material better. My TA was a really hard marker on the 4 essays we had to do which were 55% of our final grade!!

She is probably my favourite teacher. Very knowledgeable, and very helpful. She was both my professor and TA, and I will highly recommend her. Course had 4 essays, and she helped all of us for all 4 of them. Very easy marker as well. Going to her tutorial will help you immensely, as she explain what she look for in essays and exams.

Great professor!! You will be rewarded if you put work into the course! She's highly approachable, very interesting and will always be avaliable (via email, office hours, extra time, tutorial, etc). Will always make the time for you if you make the time for the course. A+++ prof!!

I had Steigerwald as my professor as well as my tutorial leader. She is an amazing prof that really takes the subject at hand and lets you think about it in your own way! This was by far my favourite class and tutorial! I strongly recommend having her because she bettered the way I thought and acted as a student! Favourite professor by far!!!

She is highly approachable (schedule appt) and intelligent professor. As this is a seminar course your marks depend on your own effort. If you want to get an A, I would advise regular attendance,read course materials and participate in lectures. For the essays, pay attention to the research. I found the course material extremely interesting.

oh man i had her as a prof along with paul fayter. she does not seem approachable. rambles on and on about the slides. does not like it when people talk in class, she will call you out and say be quiet. overall, seems like an intellectual teacher

seems ok in class.. but disgustingly rude and unhelpful outside of class. bias when marking. hates it when students counterargue with better responses especially if she hates you. don't take this class. the course discription isn't what the course really is about.

i'm still haunted by the steigerhawk. a boon for hyperpostmodernists, a nightmare for anyone else. she's helpful outside of class but old school brutal in exams. seems to think university education requires corporal punishment in order to be effective. incomprehensible and hopelessly ideological.
