Comment:

Professor Auchard is the best teacher I have at UMD thus far. He is funny, thoughtful and entertaining- He kept the lecture interesting and insightful, and I left every class itching for the next one. I didn't read the books and I did fine, but I know people got a lot more out the class by reading the books, and most of them are short.

I rarely walked out of this class without having my mind blown. Auchard is amusing and a ridiculously talented person and teacher. It's a lot of reading but its worth it for how much you learn. Even if you don't read the books its worth it for the lectures. Don't take this as an excuse not to read, just saying, take the class.

I loved this guy. He is a little silly and doesn't want you yawning in class but he was very insightful and I am definitely taking another class with him. I think he's my favorite English teacher at this school

I had such high hopes for this class, I really did. I even liked Auchard because his classes were so interesting. However, what I can not tolerate is his condescending and harsh tone with grading. I am a very good student, however there was absolutely no pleasing this man. And the comments he made to me on papers were absolutely uncalled for.

Auchard is tough, but he's a good professor. You need to read and go to class to get by. He is very strict with attendance. He grades hard. But you'll learn a lot from him. His lectures are really interesting. There isn't a whole lot of discussion and he doesn't grade on participation, though.

Attend lecture and you will be golden. I didn't read a single book, because I could just pay attention in lecture and auchard would go over everything that was important. He related everything to sex, which was kinda creepy, but overall was interesting.

Auchard is an amazing man, plain and simple. He is not only extremely intellectual but interesting as well. He makes you think about what you're reading in ways you never thought possible. I would take this class and re-read everything again simply because I would want him as my professor.

Prof. Auchard does amazing things with the exact language of the novels and the themes of the books. He has made me a much better reader and has made me much more aware of some major issues in modern society. This is my favorite course.

He was very good. I like him a lot because he was very good techer. Reading in his calass was always fun. He helped me alot with my spelling and gramar improvement. I much smarter now cause of him. Hes a great techer.
