Lectures are EXTREMELY hard to follow but he literally posts everything online, including practice problems and lecture notes. Open book quizzes on webassign every week on what was taught in class. Use the posted online notes for these! Use practice tests on his class website to study because they will be the same format on the test!

Awful professor, his lectures have no direction and I wasn't able to follow any of the lessons. Almost everyone failed the midterm. I got such a low grade on the midterm that I had to withdrawal from the class. DO NOT take this class if you struggle at math in any way at all, you will fail.

Lectures have no flow to them and are very hard to follow. Assigns challenging homework almost every night that you pretty must have to teach yourself how to do. He knows what he's talking about he's just a hard professor to learn from.

I genuinely never understood his idea behind the grading criteria for the class. It mentions that the top percentile of the class will get around an A the middle a B and the lower percentile a C. However, there is no breakdown of how much the final/midterm are worth and there is no attendance/homework points, how is that applicable in a math class?

His exams weren't particularly hard, all stuff we went over in class. We were allowed to use pretty much any resource which was really nice. Anyone who did bad in the class did not attend class. Expect lots of nerdy references.

Here's all you have to do to get the A: do not attend lecture; go to his website where he posts all the lessons and practice questions/exams. Make sure you know how to do the practice problems, because that's literally exactly what is on the test. If he allows cheat sheets, do out all the practice problems from the practice test on your cheat sheet

I took him last year and failed his class. I didn't show up and make any effort to take notes on the hw. This time around as a Senior, I've been going to most classes and do every homework and make sure to take detailed notes. If you take notes on the HW you're good! Also lets you have a cheat sheet at each exam (can be doublesided and typed)!!

Often It feels like hes teaching with no direction. Usually a professor tells you what the goal is and goes about teaching you how to get to the goal. With Racquet I just feel lost, theres no sense of direction in the lectures. Just bad. If you can avoid taking him then you should. If you had no choice like me, then good luck.

I admire his passion for math, but he makes topics harder to understand than they should be. He rambles, goes all over the place, and doesn't teach the material clearly. He talks a lot about theories and abstract concepts that are confusing. I feel like he would be better off teaching solely upper level classes and not 100 levels.

This man, will literally ruin your semester, with unnecessary homework that doesn't contribute to your knowledge for tests. I've came to every single class, and almost have fallen asleep, the others in my class would be sleeping. He tends to talk in circles and will never use slide shows. Racquet will even stand in one spot talking your head off.

The only way to learn the material is pretty much on the website you do your homework. His lectures are very boring and hard to follow if you miss a second of it. Here's how he explains something: part1 of thing to explain, side story, half of part2, side story continued, all the wrong ways to do part 2, part 3, second half of part 2.

Cool guy, doesn't make the course harder than it has to be (he doesn't go out of his way to trick you in questions). He has notes online, you should follow that when he teaches in class, makes everything 10x easier. Make sure to look at the practice tests he puts online too, they are very similar to the actual test he gives online.

To a beginner student, I would not recommencement him, but to an older student who has passion for math, I would strongly recommend! compered to most upper level math profs at Albany he is a gem. He is a little all over the place and fast paced but he has passion for teaching and truly loves to help students and always willing to help when in need

I don't understand why do we even have professors like him at a public school. You can see that no one learns anything from the class. He doesn't teach you to learn. His lectures are all over and very confusing. DON'T TAKE HIM!

Prof reads right from his notes the whole lecture, and these notes can be found online. The class is fairly easy in the beginning but picks up speed way to fast and prof gives no time to review, clarify, or explain

Following along with his lectures is not very helpful. The most important thing is GOING to his Office Hours. He basically will do the online quizzes with/for you if you want the help. I went to go over my exam and he basically guided me to getting A. There is a decent curve given how bad people do. You definitely have to work for hard good grade.
