Comment:
Professor Cohen is extremely knowledgable about his subject matter. He will go above and beyond to share what he knows about the subject he is teaching. If you are a willing and interested student the class discussion will be of extremely high quality. He is fair and understanding and will go out of his way to help you achieve a good grade.

Class discussions were not very engaging and usually the discussions centered around a few very enthusiastic people in the class. He is a little awkward but a very nice person. He is very knowledgable about his subject matter and will help you greatly with your papers in terms of structure, grammar, and topic area if you go to office hours.

Solid class. Cohen is a fair grader, and simply expects what he asks for. Lectures can be slow to start but, as with any english class, I feel that this also depends on student input. He is helpful, insightful, and knows his material.

Nothing special here, though there were moments of good insight. Generally, however, uninteresting, capricious, and a hit-or-miss grader.

Expects you to get inside his head. Class discussions are hit or miss, since they seem to flow from topic to topic rather haphazardly. Really nice guy, but I'm still not sure about his grading system.

No matter how hard I worked in the class (i.e. showing up every day, researching papers, asking for help) nobody seemed to get above the B-range. Can't quite understand how to do well in this guy's class.

I think professor Cohen is a great guy. He's truly knowledgable and a very understanding professor who's committed to helping people get through his class and actually take something out of it. Not only a good professor, but a great guy too

Cohen's not a bad guy. He's awkward to say the least. He often tells jokes that only he laughs at, but you're sure to get a decent grade. Showed up late to our final.

Prof. Cohen is a nice guy, he clearly enjoys teaching. Classes can be very interesting some days and seem very pretentious on others. He seems to be looking for specific answers to questions, but doesn't always clue you in on what that is (be careful on papers). He's not bad, but there are better.

He's a nice guy, but not that great a prof. His class was really easy- just go to office hours, although I don't know how much that'll help. The class was really boring though. I was looking forward to the stuff we read but the class was SO dull!

Cohen is the ideal corky professor. He's one of those guys that you can never tell if he like you or not. I'll say this much, I read very little for the class and did alright. His grading is pretty tough, and he is unclear as far as what he expects for papers. But he's a pretty nice guy.

Cohen tries to teach a good class but usually fails. I took 322 with a different professor and had a great experience. Discussion are not focused, we don't cover most of the assigned readings and paper grading is hard and not clear. Even meeting with him multiple times did not increase my grade.

He can, at times, lead an interesting discussion, but quite often lectures are scattered and unclear. There's no clarification of confusing material, so not a whole lot is learned. Can be a very tough grader on papers, though with unclear reasoning. A very nice man; can be a frustrating professor.

I don't know. I think he's a great guy who knows what's up and is interesting enough to keep your attention. I mean, he's only given so much to work with. There's only so much Greek literature you can handle in any class, so give the guy a break.

Cohen is one of the most useless professors I have encountered at BU. If you previously held any interest in the texts he is using, he will RUIN it. This man teaches the same thing in every class, and is unhelpful. Grading also unexplained.

absent minded professor syndrom, quarky little man with funny manerisms. Lectures were sometimes 3 hrs, discussion often off topic but everynow and again he blindsides you with something pretty insightful which mades showing up that day worth it.

VERY BORING. This man is the sole reason I decided not to become an English major. He is helpful if you approach him and a very nice man. You don't have to worry about getting papers in on time...which is good to a point....

Curious. My feelings about Cohen are completely different from most others. Had him for two classes. Must say, he knew his stuff and he taught it well. He is also understanding with papers and will work with students to make them better.
