Hands down, the best teacher I ever had. Having graduated over 20 years ago, Dr. Means prepared me for the real world. She tough, but so is the world. Take her, respect her, and work your tail off.

Means was a miserable teacher inside & out. Respect her, study hard, do your homework ... but Means is a crazy witch. it's accounting, not neoroscience, and today CPAs are aided by software, not nasty old hags that should be on meds.

Dr. Means can seem abrasivebut that is because she has no patience for people who cannot show respect for her and her class. It's simple, respect her and it will be returned. She was and is an excellent teacher, and more to the point, it was her class that created most of the success in my career. I make more than most CPA's because of her class

Oh man! Heed warnings! Man, I am so disappointed in myself for signing up with this professor AFTER reading these reviews! I thought I'd bite the bullet and try really really hard... pffft! The students here speak nothing but the truth. She is very cold and you only have three grades: 2 exams and a research paper. You have been warned my friend!

Comment:

Means will work you like a military drill sergeant. Once you think you know the material, she gives you 100 curve balls on the test. Tests are all problems, and do not always reflect th HW, which is the only practice you have for the tests. While she is a brilliant lady, her class is indeed suicide, unless you were also accepted to harvard.

I had Dr Means before teaching at FAU. I switched TO Actg due to her enthusiasm. She was hard but approachable & helpful, for technical questions & theoretical discussion. After years working and becoming a PROFESSIONAL accountant, I have an great career and make more money than most of my peers. Don't shy away from the hard work, just be prepared.

SHE is Very mean. the first day of class she was yelling at an older lady to pay attention. She writes on the board so quickly you have no time to write it down. A huge attitude! DO NOT TAKE. better off commuting to a different campus if she is the only teacher offered

The nastiest teacher in FAU accounting department, bar none. She does not care one whit about her students, and has a miserable attitude. If you respect yourself, you will avoid ever having peresonal contact with this woman. A horror.

Dr. Means is a very good teacher. She does reveiw the material fast, so as long as you read the chapters before class you should be ok. If you don't understand she will go over the material until you do. She has a temper, but if you study hard you're ok. Accounting is not easy material and you HAVE to give 110% effort to pass, but she is great!

Great teacher. She's really tough and goes fast but offers so much help in class, after class and during office hours. You just have to follow some basic rules: come to class, put your phone on VIBRATE and DO the homework. If you study hard, you'll pass all of her tests.

She is a very nice lady, but her teaching methods are not very good at all. Very impatient goes very fast, hard to understand what she writes on the board. Her test are out of this world very long and very little time to finish. The book used doesn't help very much no solution manual and very little practice problem. I wouldn't take her again.

Have strong confidence in what you do or don't do it at all! Realistically! You will be discouraged by anyone and everyone who really wants to! Dr. Means is a very nice lady who is highly knowledged of what she does. (2nd x student!) Realistically - she is the 1 for all the Accountant souls out there! Although I got a B in the class, i though she was very discouraging to students. From the very first class she said that more than 50% of the class will drop or fail and she never encourage us to pass. It felt kind of she wanted us to fail. I worked very hard in this class, did a lot of problems, read chapters and went over her class notes.

If you ask a question that she considers stupid, she get very upset and rolls her eyes at you before answering. She doesn’t care about her students.
