This was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Overall, I'm glad I have taken this class and Kristin is really knowledgeable about what she teaches. She wants you to work for your grade but the most important thing she instills that you leave with skills you did not have before. I am now able to form logical arguments. Do your homework.

Comment:

I loved Kristan, she truly made me want to come to her class and continue with my college career. I'd take her again in a heartbeat if I could, but I did put some effort into this class, not a lot but some. If you're looking for an easy A I'd look elsewhere, but I'm typically a B/C student and loved this class.

Comment:

Kristin is very knowledgeable of what she is teaching. She does have her biases but we all do. I enjoyed the class and the readings. If I weren't graduating, I'd be taking another one of her classes. Just read the books and take good notes and you'll do well. She is a tough grader but she is fair and wants you to work hard for your grade.

Pretentious and condescending. Assigned 6 or 7 books to read. Assigned 3-4 things over spring break. Glosses over parts of the unit which she still expects you to know. Very unhelpful when asked questions or just straight up lies when asked about details or specifics. Man, I really wish I could get a refund for this class. 0/10 Would not recommend.

She gave me a 0 on a paper for not meeting her standards of research. Gave unreasonable ways to make up grades and isnt good with dealing with a student if you don't see eye to eye. I have never received lower than a B- in any of my classes and I am a junior, this is the only class I have failed because of her unrealistic standards on papers.

Comment:

Good teacher who gives everyone the opportunity to pass. Online you have 6 quizzes, one final, and 2 papers that you can choose what to write on, and what unit to write for. Quizzes are easy as long as you read the books. It is a lot of reading, but trust me, you need to read it all! Tough grader on the papers. Overall I would recommend her!

Was very disappointed with this class, professor wasn't very knowledgeable. She gets off topic about her horses a lot and she reads from the textbook so if you want to actually learn mythology take it at a University.

She's not a good proffessor. A tough grader and if you skip class or show up late you will fail! She's not understanding. She likes to assign group projects with groups she selects. Could have been an intersting class but you have to read the all of the textbook and in class she basically regurgitates the info back to you. Take online or avoid

My biggest concern is was the final which was 100 questions in 60 minutes. I don't care how well you know the material, it was not enough time to actually read and process the questions and choose the correct answers. I found myself frantically guessing at the end just to finish the exam and I did well in the class as a whole.

DeKam is a hard grader and makes you work for your good grade, but she is amazing and inspirational. Would take it again. She is kind and sort of motherly. Makes you walk away with a different perspective on literally everything. Trust her when she says there is a method to her madness.

Although there are no testsquizzes there are essays galore! It was hard for me to decipher what was due when. Does not follow the syllabus. The class itself was mildly interesting but if you have no background in Fine Arts don't bother. Nice person, okay teacher. Probably won't take again her again. Attendance is a MUST or she will drop you!!!

Love love love this teacher!! Wasn't too sure if I would like the class at first but it got easier by the middle of semester. Very cool lady. You can tell she knows what she is talking about and is well educated on what she teaches. Unlike other teachers, she gives you positive feedback and will help you with anything. I LOVE her!

She is a great teacher. She is helpful if you ask, funny, and interesting. You can use partners and sometimes books on quizzes and the chapter questions on exams. The class is easier to understand if you attend class and take notes. I highly recommend her!

You have to read a LOT which isn't my thing so I dropped this class. I couldn't keep an interest and fell behind. She is definitely at a higher level thinking and the way she teaches. She expects you to work so hard for a class that should be super easy. And she doesn't grade homework only the 4 tests. She is a decent person but tough love teacher.

She is wonderful! She provides everything you need to know for tests in her lecture. She's got a good sense of humor and her lectures are interesting. Her intelligence shines through in a polite way and she is more than willing to help you get an A. I HIGHLY recommend her for PHI 201. I learned a lot and enjoyed the class.

Kristin lets you decide your grade. By that, I mean it's put into your own hands. There's a list of non-mandatory assignments that you can do to improve your overall grade, or you can choose to only take the tests. Her tests are multiple choice but very hard. Attendance isn't mandatory, but is a must or you'll be clueless. Very fun & charismatic.
