I'll be honest, at first I did not like the way he teaches. However after getting used to his teaching style i enjoy his classes. He can get boring, and is very liberal. As long as you do the work you will do ok!

His lectures can border on boring. He goes off on unrelated tangents. He is never on time and showed up to a test 10 minutes late. His class can get boring and doesn't involve the students in the discussion of the material. I've had worse teachers but I would never take a class with him again.

Professor Bailey is one of my favorite professors at RU. Once I got the hang of his teaching style, I have enjoyed every class I've taken with him! You have to be willing to put work into his classes, but if you take notes and read what you need to then you're basically guaranteed a good grade. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in Soc

Dr. Bailey has one of the greatest sociological minds i've ever come across! I've now taken 3 of his courses and I have enjoyed each one! You get what you put in with his courses. Bailey offers his students a chance to think and is an outstanding resource of knowledge! Reading is heavy, but extremely interesting. Exams are based on critical thought

Comment:
Reading load is heavy (we did 4 books). Midterm and final are take home, but hard. Bring coffee to class, and lecture is dry and jargony. The books were really interesting though, and left me wanting to read more from those authors. Extreme liberal perspective.

I've had Bailey for about 3 classes and I admit at first I was a bit intimidated and disliked him, but I can't deny this man knows his stuff! After getting used to his teaching style I have to say Professor Bailey is awesome, I even enjoy reading for his class. If you get the chance take his course.

I had Bailey for 2 classes... deviance and mental illness. He is one of the best professors I've had in a long time. He gets right to the point makes information clear and provides understandable examples. I'm not big on sociology but I would take another one of his classes. He's an easy grader if you go to class and pay attention. <3 his classes

Absolutely brutal...I know that RU is a 'liberal' school, but he actually preached that the 'good ole days' like "Leave it to Beaver" etc., never happened...tell that to my elder relatives who had lived during those times and tell me how good it was back then...nothing more than pure indoctrination...sad...

His classes do require a lot of reading throughout the semester. In SOC351 we had to read 5 different books and the class was taught by the grad students. Attendance is mandatory and in the sylabus he suggests if you miss more than 2 to drop the class. So if you're one who likes to skip class don't take Dr. Bailey. Our tests were take home.

I had this teacher for Social Deviance 230. He is a nice guy and all, but I wouldn't recomand him. He lectures the whole time and half the time you can't even understand what he's talking about. A lot of reading!!! and on your own learning.

Excellent teacher-fair grader. Exams are essay based 3-4 per exam. Graded on how well you can interpret what you know and learned. On the day of the exam, a list of topics is given and we choose which ones we want to write about. In short, do the readings and take notes, do mock write ups ahead of time and you'll be fine.

Very informative but speaks on another level. Would not recommend him at all. Teaching style was unclear and he was not that helpful. Grading was not that hard but understanding him was takes a lot of reading time on your own, don't count on him. If possible, take someone else.
