Dr.Pillus is a one of a kind professor that is truly there to teach. She takes the time to learn her student's names. She is extremely helpful and welcomes questions. You will learn a lot with her. BUT...she is hard. Her tests will require intelligence. She has a generous curve (The MT average was 60/120 after removing outliers from geniuses).

Fantastic professor! Very help in office hours and is extremely approachable. She definitely has the students' best interests in mind. The tests and material are difficult but the sections are a good supplement for knowledge gaps. She does speak rather quietly and rapidly so sitting at the front is not a bad idea.

Good prof. Nice, SUPER HELPFUL in OH and in the help rooms. She really cares. Lectures are kinda boring but tests are fair/doable if you study & do the problem sets. Attend section too, some TAs are also helpful. She speaks kind of quietly so sit in the front. Overall, decent prof, I'd definitely take her again.

Prof Pillus is GREAT. she loves teaching and it shows. she really wants you to know your stuff, so the tests are killers! you gotta go to lecture, read the book, and do the problem sets. MUST do the practice exams. expect to fail, if you don't. go to section or OH because it helps a ton. be an active student if you want your A

haha, i just read the comment below and i totally agree. this lady is hardcore, and if you have even 16 units or o'chem, you'd better delay BIMM100 or you will A) get a C+ (like I did when i took her with Albazati), B) get really stressed/depressed, C) your OTHER grades will perish, or D) die.

OMG! I entered wanting to learn mol-bio so bad, thinking it would be easy since I do research in a mol-bio lab. But OMFG when I took this class last year, despite the hours and hours of studying, I escaped barely with a D. Must retake it, but I know when to pick my fights. Waiting till next quarter for Pasquenelli is better than imminent Cs and Ds

This class is ridiculously difficult, in the sense that you have to know DETAILS of EVERYTHING. Most dropped after midterm - I stayed even though I scored ~60%. Final left some people in tears. But despite all that, I pulled an A (although that's based on how well everyone else did - curved). She's really helpful in OHs

not as amazing as everyone makes her out to be. she's nice and cool but tests were pretty difficult and she taught every mol bio concept under the sun. and lectures? forget about it, boring and i could never hear her.

Hardest exam ever! I studied like crazy, got a D on midterm, dropped and retook class with Ghiara, got an A, then for fun looked at my old midterm from Pillus--I still could not answer 1/2 the questions from her exam after getting an A from another prof! Just ridiculously hard!

the greatest lady on campus at UCSD... an AMAZING lecturer Fantastic person great mentor/ advisor if you want an easy A, go take someone else, but if you're giving consideration to a career in science, you can't find a better teacher!
