Comment:

Very nice lady, the problem with the Spanish courses at UCF is the department. They are extremely inflexible and I highly doubt she dictates any of the vitae of the course. Responds quick by email but Spanish at ucf is just a nightmare, not her fault.

Comment:

Took this class online. Partner chats online were the hardest part of this class. People were flaky and irresponsible. Professor was kind and allowed me to submit a video of me speaking Spanish for the couple times I had trouble finding a partner. Lots of homework and basically teaching yourself. Stay on top of when assignments are due.

A lot of homework. Not clear on expectations, homework, group assignments. Can not communicate. Test are hard and proctored does not let you use notes or book. For people who do not know Spanish I would not chance it and take her.

This class feels like it was formulated for students who already know spanish, the tests have way too much on them to be timed for only 40 minutes. I wouldn't recommend this class online AT ALL. I am a 3.7 student and it is going to make my GPA fall tremendously. Take in class not online if possible!

I took SPN1120C online. There are a lot of assignments to do in VHL Central - you use the online textbook for the assignments. They're not too hard, but they are time consuming. I was working on the assignments almost every day. (Most of the time, for hours). Overall, I'd recommend taking her, just be prepared to do a lot of work.

She is very helpful. Really nice lady. My only complaint is that a lot of material is presented in a short amount of time. The online HW is sometimes confusing, and the online are tests are very similar to HW. Her in class quizzes are also similar to HW. 3 oral presentations and three in class writing compositions. Would take her again.

Very Helpful! She was an amazing teacher who made learning spanish easy. Homework and tests are online. In class compositions are easy and she is a fair grader. 4 quizzes in class that were short and simple. I recommend to take her. Easy to get a good grade.

The Best. Hands down. Take her and show up then get a good grade. The nicest woman ever. You will not regret it. I took her for elementary spanish 1 and 2. Both were cake.

Really sweet lady. Lenient about late assignments and keeps class interesting. I got by without the textbook, her homework is never collected. All the tests are online with MyLanguageLabs. Takes off 2% of final grade for every day missed.. really big on attendance. Overall pretty good teacher for a pretty boring subject.

She is a reasonable grader when it comes to compositions and presentations.Sometimes her accent makes understanding the content difficult. She doesn't draw connections btwn Spanish/English to show how concepts operate in the language which makes it hard to understand at times.

Profesora Barbosa es muy buena! She is sweet and easygoing, but she also wants you to learn! She is always available to answer questions, in-class and outside of class. The homework online is time consuming, but easy. If anything, she is far too nice and lenient. But she is kind and the class is a very easy one to pass with an A.

Pros: Very nice lady. Funny sometimes even. Willing to work out your grade. Cons: Hard to understand because of her harsh accent. "Teaching" consists of calling out students to read from the text. Takes attendance EVERYDAY. Unclear on what she wants out of assignments.

Mrs. Barbosa is so sweet. She will do anything to make sure you pass her class. All you have to do is show up and show that you care about getting a good grade. I did not like spanish going in, but I actually enjoyed learning it with her.

Comment:

Never actually took her class, but she's subbed for two of my professors several times. I can tell you that she's got to be one of the better Spanish teachers. Her accent's a bit thick, but if you can get past that, you'll find her knowledgable and helpful. If you can avoid taking Redmon, definitely take Barbosa instead. I wish I did.

This lady only speaks spanish making it hard for those students who are just begining...she keeps you until the very last minute and is unclear with every direction and assignment she gives or tries to explain.

Great class and great teacher! She's really nice and understanding. Mrs. Barbosa is really concerned about her student's education and she is willing to help after class. She also gives assignments that are a lot of fun, not boring. I don't like Spanish, but this class was great! I only wish I could take her for Spanish II! :-)
