Comment:

Grades like a English professor and marks major points off for minor - VERY minor - mistakes. Makes it impossible to succeed. Seems to enjoy students failing - good students! Horrible - mandatory class. Ruined material with the stress of her grading. Also holds it against you later on in the Psych program if you dare complain about anything !!!

Professor is not polite. Even though I tried hard to follow her advice when she comment my papers and discussion questions, she continue to taking out points. In addition she gave me 0 points for not using an external resources in 8 of the 10 discussion question. It is the second class I took with her and I hope not to take more classes with her.

Like some, I took an online class from Dr. Lavooy. Hated it! Started having problems with concepts the first week. Reached out for help and her communication was lacking (not answering questions, not responding). This has been the most frustrating class I have ever taken. Perhaps I would feel different if this class was on campus, but it isn't

Absolutely loved this class and Dr. Lavooy! A LOT of note taking, must pay attention. Her tests are very thorough, but if you study they are pretty easy. Always had really interesting class discussions. She is extremely helpful and always has interesting stories to tell.

Comment:

I was skeptical about Dr. Lavooy bc of everything I heard about her grading. This is the thing, she ACTUALLY grades your paper & leaves comments. We are used to profs just skimming and giving us 100% for little effort. You have to try to get an A in her class and you will. Take her if you want to challenge yourself.

Awful teacher. Rude, unhelpful, and her TA was more than RUDE! Her questions were from a bank in the book and most of the time made no sense. She took almost no part in teaching the class and allowed her obnoxious, pompous TA to run it. She promised a curve when everyone in the class was doing badly and then only gave 5 points extra credit, help

I took this class online... I was lost, the notes were not helpful, the teacher didn't respond to a single email I sent her and her quizez ALWAYS had major errors in multiple questions.

I thought I would hate this class because History and Systems of Psychology is a terrible name for a class, but this was the best class I've ever taken. Be prepared to read and write a LOT, and the tests are pretty hard (tip: make an index of names & ideas w/page #s, for each test). It's worth it, though: you will know a LOT when you're done.

There is a LOT of material for this class and a lot of writing. For each module you write about 500 words to answer a question she provides and then write 10 paragraphs for the chapters in the module. This was a pretty difficult class for me mostly because of the 30 minute time limit for a 20 question test.

Nice professor. Have some type of enthusiasm for the history of psych because there is a lot of writing involved. 600 word assignments and 3 paragraphs per post and per reply. I had a hard time getting into the subject, but that is not her fault...just makes the writings a little more difficult to crank out in such lengths.

took her in a seminar called psychology of religion. she is nice and interesting, tests were from both reading and notes, but she was good about explaining things that were unclear. got a B+ without studying too much.

Ok, ridiculous class! History of Psychology which means going over centuries back into time. BORING!! She grades so harshly, it's not english. If the point is there whats the deal with the grammar and that nonsense. Get real dude! Take this class with someone else. She will not let you get a good grade. WAY UNFAIR!!!!!

I can't believe how easy this class was! A+ without trying. I took it online and used the book's companion website to help study (take the tests there). She has 5 modules-all of which contain 1 writing assignment (1.5 pages), 1 discussion post, 1 discussion reply, and 1 quiz. Would take anything she teaches. GREAT class! Thanks Dr L. :)

Good luck to anyone who takes this teacher. She comes of smart but is WAY too hard on grading and seriously needs to chill with taking a point off for every little thing. i had her last semester and had the hardest time with it. I got a B- after SOOOOO much hard work and so many hours into this ONE course!!!

Ok, This class was pretty hard. Don't know why everyone came on saying it was easy! NOPE!! Alot of work, and Alot of writing assignments.. The quizzes are times and have 30 minutes for 40 questions so not even a minute a question. For all psych majors this class is required. GOOD LUCK!!!

This was an online class and was very thorough in covering all of the subject matter. The unit quizes were fair and the unit esays were challenging but not daunting. The companion book site was very helpful for review.
