The best at Cal! This man is an inspiration. My new role model. Got the whole class excited about the music, gave all students a chance to learn and showcase their talents. And he is extremely personable. He plays piano and sings like Donny Hathaway, talks analytically about social movements, then will start talking in German! Amazing Professor!

Dont read the prompts he gives for papers, just go to his office hours so he can tell you what is expected. You only have to read the stuff on the prompts, which is ok since hell hand a prompt 3 weeks ahead. You do not have to go to lecture. Its an interesting subject, but he does not present it in an interesting and intellectually challenging way.

Dude, soc was an easy class for me. reflection papers, midterm and final were all fairly graded, and he let us rewrite them for extra points. the presentation was fun. you dont need to go to lecture, unless you want to see him dance...and dance....and sing....and dance. haha. hes cool though, nice guy. easy class.

Do not take. Lectures repetitive, disorganized, barely relevant. Constantly postponing papers the day it's due. Didn't learn a thing b/c I couldn't tell what was important or not. If you must take it, just go to office hours (no response to emails).

Don't take this class. I heard it was an easy A and I screwed myself. He lectures one slide per day and then talks about his personal life. Then he assigns 6 papers and a 30-member group project and expects you to know everything. Avoid.

I took his soc 141 course and loved it. I dont know what everyone else is talking about...i thought he was quite knowledgable about social movements. He is also a very passionate and charasmatic lecturer. VERY approachable and actually cares about how students are doing. He learned almost 1/2 the names of the people in a class of like 150. A+ prof

One time I had a teacher who was a heroine addict. He had stringy gray hair and was prone to frequent outbursts. True story. But I can say with confidence that "Professor" Wilson is a far greater source of frustration. So as I sit here attempting to write the final paper which is essentially 13 prompts in one, I beg you: do not enroll. Stay away.

I don't know if he's teaching next semester, but PLEASE do yourself a favor, and don't enroll. I was told it was easy, but the ease of passing is nothing compared to the torture of watching him embarrass himself. Daily. BEYOND inappropriate. The class was his personal dance floor---I've never had such a narcisistic prof.

Class was harder than i expected. What he expects from students is hard to grasp until after the first few essarys, but is still a vague professor. Going to class is not needed and kinda boring. if you take this class, make sure you link every problem in society to racism.

the classes overall are easy, but he lacks clarity in connecting lectures to assignments. He lectures off the top of his head, ill-prepared. When challenged by a student he has NO response. Looks to students to carry the class. Can't be respected in the SOC dept. But its an easy A. Expresses interest in gay issues much to often, i.e. homo-hop

I have to agree with the previous comments: Professor wilson is nice but ineffective. He sends out plenty of emails, but responds to none. Too many readings are assigned, and are subsequently skimmed through during class, sometimes in a vague and quick manner. Plus he dances and sings a lot...and that gets old.

ive never had such an inefficient professor. he is very nice, but he just summarizes the reading in a very vague, confusing way. i have to force myself to go to class. im learning absolutely nothing. stay away if you actually want to learn something.

He's a really nice guy. (Homo? Don't think so.) Don't know about all of this crazy enthusiasm you guys are talking about, but he's definitely not a bad teacher and he's a good guy, if a little boring sometimes. Still a fun class.
