Boy was he difficult. Exams are definitely very diffuicult. I did horrible on the 2 midterms and thought I might fail the class (no joke). However, he has a grade replacement policy that replaces midterms if you do well on the final. I studied hard and did well (12 percent above average) and somehow ended up with a B+. Tries to help his students.

His lectures are clear and understandable. Tests are fair. Guys, if all other ochem professors are just like him, then our ochem lives will be so much easier. He even allowed us to use a cheat sheet for final. Practice exams and examples are just like the tests. Take him, if you are science major.

Marsella is amazing. He's funny, a great chemist, and a simple guy. He simplifies everything about organic chemistry to the fundamental, most basic concepts without taking away any important information. He prepared me well for 112C and for future chemistry classes I'll take. He's definitely one of the best professors I've ever had.

I have been in higher education for over 5 years, and this is the most HYPOCRITE professor I have had for 112A, he did not have a grading criteria on his syllabus, and decided to make it upon what he feels right at the end. in 112B, he promised to use lab grades to determine the +/- on your grade. last day of the class he changed the syllabus..

POSSIBLY THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. OCHEM IS HARD, BUT HE MAKES IT BEARABLE! I DEFINITELY SUGGEST READING THE CHAPTERS BEFORE CLASS BECAUSE IT'LL MAKE HIS LECTURES MORE UNDERSTANDABLE

Great class! Took it on the summer for both 112A and 112B. He was straightforward on his notes and his exams are fair. You are guarantee a pass if you put some efforts into it. His office hours were great as he usually post exam problems on the board. I only redo problems from my notes and I did not too bad on final grade. He's a funny guy as well.

He is a bad professor overall. He is disorganized and does not teach well, however, his test are fairly easy. So you are pretty much guaranteed a pass if you try. His class is more memorization and not application. So if that's what you like this class is for you, but he teaching style will not help you for the later series, keep that in mind.

He's really unclear in lecture and you NEED TO READ the book and attend SI to understand the concepts. In the end, he grades based of a z score so make sure your ranking is the class is really good.

Dr. Marsella knows his stuff, he's a very nice guy, and very approachable. Although, he is unorganized, you won't be lost as long as you try to do the hw problems. I'd take him again many more times. He's the coolest chem professor at ucr and he's hot for his age.

Fair exams. Clear lectures.Tells you how to prepare for MT 1&2. MT 3=final exam, not cumulative. wish I had learned the mechanisms before the 3 wk summer course started. Most mechanisms were crammed into the last 3 lectures of the course.(MT3 was overwhelming!).Good experience but i'll never voluntarily take a 3 wk ochem course ever again.

This guy rules. One of the hardest classes I've taken for my major here at UCR. But this man made it so much better. Realest and best professor out there. Very helpful, passionate, kind, and understanding. He's one of my faves and helped me so so much.

His lectures are really unorganized, doesn't post anything online and since he moves FAST in lecture you miss things. I found myself not taking notes and just taking pictures with my phone as it was faster. In 112B he was a bit better as he posted the notes online. Easy class to pass but not an easy A cause of the final. The curve was not good

He has helped me so much and explains things in a way that truly make sense to me. He is very caring and helpful and I really love Ochem. And he's a huge part of the reason for that. Great guy.

It's a hard class. You really have to go to SI and office hours to do good. His curve sucks because it benefits those doing well but really hurts those who are not since you are ranked according to your class. Final was mostly homework problems

Very easy midterms and very hard final. He is unorganized with his notes in class like everyone is saying. Some of his homework book problems are random and don't fit with understanding mechanisms and synthesis we are trying to learn.
