Comment:

Dr. Biswas is an amazing professor who continues to inspire the students of this campus. Although she may be a very meticulous about the work we turn in to her, she gives the best feedback to become better writers. I knew what I was getting into before I took this class and it was just as I expected; hard but rewarding. I'm glad I took her class.

Comment:

The work load in this English 1B class was very fair, as was her grading. Her passion for her subject is evident and Dr. Biswas has inspired me to become more interested in literature. She wants her students to succeed but maintains strict expectations about the standards. Work and you will learn! You rock, Dr. Biswas!

Comment:

Dr. Biswas is the best prof at sjcc and it will be a tragedy if she retires. I have been inspired to work hard and can see a dramatic improvement in my writing, thinking and research skills. Dr. Biswas gives clear instructions, is respectful of our opinions and very very knowledgeable. An amazing person as well.

Well, Very opinionated. Her humanitarian work takes up her lecture time. Seems to be distracted so shes not particularly clear on assignments or grading. you get whatever grade she feels is sufficient- not necessarily earned if that makes sense. I would get an A when the eng. dept would grade as a whole but if only she were grading, I'd get a D...

Comment:

Good Teacher. She assigns a research paper and you will have to do a power point presention on it. A lot of people dropped when the research paper was due, don't get discouraged and put in the work. I'm not much of a writer, but I passed anyway and I felt very accomplished afterwards.

Dr. Biswas is a tough college level professor but fair. She gives honest and brutal feedback which can be rough to accept at times, but that's what makes her great! She has high expectations and won't gives easy grades unless you have earned them. If you want to make a drastic improvement in your writing, I absolutely recommend you take her.

Dr. Biswas is simply the most helpful, knowledgeable and best instructor at SJCC. She has high expectations for her students at this level, so do not take her class for an easy pass. But she wants her students to succeed and I am now very confident in my writing, logic and research skills.

Dr. Biswas is very encouraging, supportive, helpful, clear in her lectures, replies to email immediately and just an amazing overall person. I feel lucky to have been in her class this semester. She is a fair grader and I am satisfied with my B grade as I can see exactly where I fell short of an A. Best instructor at City!

Really enjoyed her as a professor, she is very kind and helpful. Not very many papers so you have time to revise the ones you do get assigned. Take advantage of office hours when you need to. An A is not tough if you follow the format she asks for papers.

This course with Dr. Biswas was interesting and a great learning experience. She taught me critical thinking skills and also made literature meaningful. I am really confident about research skills, citation and thesis development. My Engl 1A class did not teach this stuff! Dr. B will make you work, but it is so worth it!

Professor Biswas is very nice and helpful, but gives way too much homework. I'm pretty sure I made a mistake taking her class because her reviews are misleading. We had to turn in sooo many essays including two that had to ne done in class. If you are up for all the work go for it, she's very organized.

Biswas is incredible. She has pushed me to write better than I ever have before. She is kind, helpful, sincere, and will give you excellent feedback when you're trying to piece together a paper. One of the best profs at SJCC. I plan on taking her again for 1C. If you don't want to work and expect to pass a class, Don't take this one. You're lazy.

I have never been inspired to work so hard in my life and hope to be rewarded with an A grade. But more than the grade, this course has made me confident in my writing and I have understood how superficial my reading was. Dr. Biswas gives clear instructions. returns papers with prompt feedback and is the most amazing "life" coach. We adore her !

After 3 attempts, I found the best prof at SJCC! The 1C class with Dr. Biswas demanded a lot of effort, but was totally worth it. Dr. Biswas is very helpful, gives great feedback and returns papers on time.She even responds to email at 1AM! She seems to enjoy teaching and made the semester fun. I am a better student and better aware of the world.

Took Biswas for Eng 1A, B and C. Hands down a fantastic professor, hence why I took her classes. Got two A's and a B overall. It may be tough work and she isn't always crystal clear on instructions, but she is very kind and wants you to succeed. She strengthened my liking of the subject. If you truly put in the effort, you will get at least a B.

Literature was never my thing, but this class was great. I can now make connections between the author, the society, recognize the conflict and do research. My writing skills have improved a lot! Mitali Biswas teaches a hard class but is the best prof at the school. I am so grateful for all that I have learned this semester.

The learning is not only about clearly developed thesis or a great research paper, but about being a better student and better person.I know this because I am a lawyer today nd I remember Dr. Biswas with her grace and knowledge the most.Great class, classy person!
