Very good experience. I wish I can take more her classes but it seems that she isn't teaching the third year.

She is funny and lenient. The main differences between her class and other senseis' class are that she will assign partners when doing conversation, she concentrates on politeness during the whole lecture, and she will post some extra anime-related stuff. I think I learned more than the course material in her class.

She's energetic and a fair grader but most of her classes are in the morning. Her expectations are straightforward: daily quizzes and dialogues, biweekly chapter tests and Kanji quizzes, and a few skits a quarter. Not the best class if you're really shy, since she'll call on people randomly so everyone can participate. She's also quite funny

Uchida-Sensei is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She puts so much effort in to teaching you, but she's also fair, kind and pretty cool. If she sees the class is struggling on a topic she makes sure to put extra time into it (for us it was listening comprehension). She also loves introducing us to pop culture. All around super cool.

Her classes are not easy, but you really don't want it to be easy if you're learning a language. She's energetic, funny, and really keeps your attention throughout the class. Definitely dedicated to making sure you learn the language while still having a pretty energetic and fun class environment. (Also she has an awesome office.)

My favorite Japanese instructor at Davis by a long shot (which is saying a lot since I've loved every one I had.) She is ridiculously energetic and far and makes class participation stress-free and fun. She has a way with poking fun at students with cheery light-heartedness that keeps the class fun. I absolutely recommend her.

She is one of my favorite language teachers in the Japanese department. I highly recommend her especially for 112. She is a HUGE anime/pop culture fan and is very VERY peppy during class. I see a lot of people complain about quizzes but honestly I feel like her quizzes are pretty straightforward. After your first few you should get how she tests.

By far my favourite teacher in this university. I cannot praise her enough. Her classes was never boring, and she made sure everyone participated. She was always happy, funny and energetic. The daily quizzes make sure that you're in touch with the course. The midterms and finals aren't too difficult, but can be a little tricky. Highly recommended.

She's tough on her quizzes but as the quarter goes on she relaxes her grading a bit to the point where she’s pretty much giving points away. If she thinks you don’t know the answer to a question she won’t hesitate to call on you, but overall the course is pretty fun. Be sure to backtalk to her, she likes heated discussions.

Hard. Expect to get around 10 points less than you normally do on quizzes and tests. Contrary to popular opinion, she doesn't seem to pick on students, she just jokes around. Her exams test you on your ability, not your memorization, so to score well you need to actually practice in the real world.

I learned a lot in this class. For a morning class, this class is fun. She tried to make the class interesting but humiliate students was not appropriate. And her grading was kind of harsh.

This so called teacher takes pleasure in humiliating every single student publicly every lesson. Mediocre performance (hideous pronunciation, inaudible) is awarded above average points, whereas outstanding performances gives a little above, especially with skit scripts. You may end up hating Japanese because of this teacher, if you don't know better

I had Uchida-sensei for JPN 1, a freshman seminar, JPN 112, and for JPN 109 (the summer abroad program). Over these past 3 years, I can say that she is a difficult teacher, but is really interested in the subject matter and wants to teach her students. She really is approachable to talk to, and I high recommend her abroad program offered.

I had Uchida-sensei for both Japanese 1 and 3. She's an amazing teacher and really sets a strong foundation in the language. You HAVE to study to do well. The quizzes go fast and she definitely keeps you on your toes. You'll never fall asleep because she's fun and hilarious. Not an eye-sore either :] Highly recommended.
