There are 5 tests I believe, 3 multiple choice and 2 essays. Her multiple choice are pretty hard however grades super easy on essays. As long as you address the question you get an easy A.

Once you get to know her on a more intimate level, she really opens up. Her design aesthetic and teaching style are clear and to the point. Make sure to see her after hours if you need more help!

Really awful. I stopped showing up to class because all she did was read from the lecture slides (which are posted online). She is hard to understand. Tests were ok, provided you know names of artists and their work and characteristics of different movements.

When I first interacted with her regarding portfolio review (and in GPHD 20) I thought she didn't like me very much. But now I'm in the program and I see how she is very nice and personable, and is willing to help you out a lot. I love learning about typography now.

Comment:

Ridiculously bad at lecturing. Monotone, thick accent. Refuses to use the plural. She didn't teach, she read from the powerpoints. Stopped attending class halfway through because I was actually learning more from the powerpoints online and textbooks than her lectures. They were that bad.

Even if you think you know what you're doing, chances are you did it wrong. You'll need to ask for clarification most of the time. Work load is not light, mostly collecting 'artistic' photos and building a 'process book'. This class feels like 'craft-building-in-the-guise-of-gestalt-theory-through-abstraction'. Critiques and advice are good though.

Yeah, she might be a little hard to understand, but the class was easy! Just write down what she puts in the lectures and remember the works done by the artists and you'll do just fine. I never once looked in the textbook (even though she says half of the test comes from it) and still got an A in the class. Cut her a break. Her class is easy.

She's nice enough, but difficult to understand. She doesn't make her expectations very clear, so be sure you understand your homework before leaving class. Above all, don't be afraid to ask for help! The work can be tedious and she generally doesn't offer assistance unless you ask for it. But she is patient and courteous when asked, so ask often!

Most of the time, her crits are individual. She can be vague so, if you want helpful comments, drag it out of her. Ask her follow up questions. She believes that if you really want to get into the design program, you'll do the work. Meaning, she gives you enough rope to hang yourself if you get lazy. Go to class and put in the effort!

She was hard to understand, wasn't very organized, so she usually makes things up as she goes. Difficult grader-Usually doesn't tell you what she'll be grading on. She's inconsistent so she'll tell you 1 thing & another student another thing. She was helpful on the 1st project, but not later on. Criticizes your work, but not constructively.

She is a little hard to understand (she's from Korea) but she is a really good designer and if you ask her for suggestions she has lots to offer. She grades easy too, and can work it out with you if you are struggling.
