Feminist Econ... if only Helen Ready could have sat in. I was denied an A by 1/10 of a point on an exam question answered identically by a good friend, classmate, and women. I got docked 10 points, she did not??? Like the labor union class she taught, they overstayed their welcome, so has she!!

I had taken Dr Olson previously for EC 205 and thought she was great so I decided to sign up for her Feminist Economics class expecting something similar. Not the case at all, I highly recommend avoiding this class. I do not have a problem w/ a teacher assinging readings but her amount is way over the top. Exams are awful. Good for 205, avoid 445

Shocked @ poor rating. Dr. Olson is a great teacher. Those poorly rating her don't have a brain or knowledge basis. She is HELPFUL and clear, class IS EASY, study, she gave ALL examples;specific hmwk prob that r on exams. never collects hmwk; hands u answers to the hmwk. lectures r break dwn of fundamental pts. She is a bright Dr. and Woman.

Before I took this class I thought for sure these ratings were exaggerated. Before taking this class I had a 3.5 GPA, clearly not stupid. I failed her class. If I can give you any word of advice, it's this: DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH PROFESSOR OLSEN. If you do, speak only when spoken to and never joke in class or she will not like you.

DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HER!! Even if you know economics fairly well and are an intelligent person, the tests are VERY hard, and she will find a way to make you feel stupid for asking questions. She teaches graduate level classes too, and I think she gets the audience confused. She's condescending, an ego maniac, and hard to understand!

Um....Um.....Um, Um....ah Um..... Good God lady, can you piece a sentence together?!?! i counted the number of "Ums" said by this teacher in 1 hour and 15mins and it TOTALED 274 times!!!! bad teacher!

She sucks. She intentionally has a quiz at the beginning of every class to force you to be there. Her lectures are the most boring I've ever intended. She never actually answer a students question. Even if you understand economics, her tests are hard. Avoid!!

Dr. Olson opened my eyes to new ideas and perspectives. She was always respectful of our ideas--IF they were well argued. (I think some of the students weren't respectful because she's a woman.) We were lucky to have such a smart and important economist teaching us.

She's not tough, just a poor instructor and tries to make her class hard by grading harshly and giving unclear directions. I can't emphasize this enough, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!

This woman is impossible! Material on tests is not in text book, but her own opinions she spouted off during lectures! Rude, boring and not a great authority on the subject she is teaching. Wish I would've dropped when I had the chance!

Dr.Olson, this woman knows everything, just ask her. Her attitude is not one that is condusive to learning. She doesn't really care about her students and it actually seemed like she wanted to cunfuse us and keep from actually learning anything. 3 test and each was competely different. It felt like she had never taught before.

Dr. Olson is a liberal and acts the part. She is knowledgable and likes the subject matter but sometimes comes across like a know it all. It is hard but not too hard. She is a little different but can be dealt with for a quarter

Take the time to read the material & ask questions anytime you have issues. She takes time to help you understand the subject if you give her respect & show her you want to learn. She can come off somewhat threatening if you do not know her sense of humor. Her bias is definitely liberal but not so limiting that it impedes history or closes debate

Read the material and take notes, but most emphasis came from her in-class lectures and coverage of the material. Treat her with respect, show her you are a responsible student, and she will respect you back and answer any of your questions. If you asked her something she could not answer readily, she would research and E-mail you.
