Very nice guy! I have taken SPAN 211 and SPAN 311 with him as well and it seems like he really looks for growth. He does give compositions back and allows you to re-turn them in for better grades. He is quite laid back as well. He has also been a great advisor.

Prof Iglesias is great. He's really knowledgable and a lenient grader. Some of the stuff we did in class felt like busywork, but I'm excited to take him for a higher level class. He's patient with the students who don't study, but if you don't study you won't keep up.

This is the 2nd class I've taken with him and he's always pretty relaxed about his classes. Deadlines are very unclear though. Whatever he emphasizes in class is what you need to focus on, not what's on the syllabus. You have to do the online journal stuff or you won't get an A. Even if you didn't show you cared, if you did the work you'll be fine

Overall, Spanish classes at BU are not that great. He focuses on a lot of grammar, you don't really learn much else. Some vocab here and there. Makes you write a composition in class for each exam plus a 2 page composition outside of class. Sort of an unstructured class but it's manageable. Usually only 10-15 kids in class so you'll get called on.

For spanish, you don't really have a choice whether or not you take his classes if you're a major or minor. But for humanities, his classes are boring but he usually gives you any question he might ask on a test. Readings are important, but there was one whole book that I didn't read. If you want to learn Spanish then take Spanish. If you don't want to learn then don't take the class. Very easy teacher, tests were extremely easy- not much grammar, presentations- easy, papers- get them right the first time! Oral final- not too hard but a little hard to understand after the first few questions. Show interest and u'll do well.

I got an A in this class, but don't be fooled- it was hard to do, and most people in the class did not get an A. It's a ton of work just for a humanities class! He is very serious and not particuarly friendly. Make sure to keep up with the reading. Participation is key to doing well. Prepare well for his exams.

Awesome!!! I took a number of classes with Iglesias from Fall '01 thru Spring '04, & he was also one of my advisors. He is a great professor but you have to keep up with him. You have to earn your grade (imagine that) & take responsibility for your assignments. Don't let your laziness take advantage of his flexibility. Ask questions & he will help!
