Syllabus was clearly written with expectations. As long as you can follow instructions and don't expect/need someone to hold your hand, you'll do fine. One book essay that he gives at beginning of semester with due date later in semester.

He's very knowledgeable with his material but can't connect to the students. Use the books because the power points aren't that helpful. Test are online and you'll have 5 reaction papers over videos and some extra credit opportunities.

In order to do good in this class you must read the book. you take notes in class but the notes are different than the test. He will not give you extra credit. I was 1 point away from a C. He know his stuff but he is too aragant. I wouldn't recommend anyone to take this class.

The class is pretty easy if you teach yourself. This class could have been interesting if the professor was professional. The class was online the test was nothing like what he told you to study on the study guide.You only had to write one paper. He seems as if he is aggravated when you email him.

I took social problems from him he is the worst professor ever. He get and attitude when you ask for help, he gave one date for the test then changed it at the last minute. When you email him his response is cocky and unprofessional. Don't make a mistake and call him Mr he will get upset nd correct you and let you know he is a Dr.

I have to agree with a previous poster that Juvenile Delinquency should not just be about one race. Delinquency is evident in all forms and should not be presented in such a bias (racially) way. Just read, study, and do the tests and assignments on time and you'll be fine. Just remember this class is more about race than anything else.

Awesome. I had a paradigm shift in the middle of the semester and realized that even I had some unwanting tendencies. He takes it upon himself to highlight truths that we don't think about and in some cases would prefer to ignore. I now look at people of color in a different light and I sympathize for them.

Based on 2 experiences, Dr. Robertson's upper/online classes all follow one format: 4 multi-choice exams (50 questions, 55 min) on 3-4 chapters of textbook. The other 20% is 3-5 page critique of 1 chapter of a book related to the course. Exams are easy IF you read & prepare using his review sheet. Critiques aren't harshly graded but use his format.

I read his ratings online prior to taking him and it was distressing. This turned out to be a great class and very interesting. His instructional asst, Sanjay, one word -- AWESOME!!! Directions were clear and if you study, you will do good. Quick responses to email. Pleasantly surprised.

Online-stay away!!..never post test on time,does not give enough time to take the test,gets an attitude when you email to ask for help and rarely responds.I heard that he was much better if you took him in class and if you were a minority.

Took hime for Juvenile Justice...was more like Poor Black man in prison class (no really we had to read "Why are so many black men in prison and The New Jim Crow) This would have been fine if I took a class for that but not it was more like a class about race. Did not like the class at all but it was rather easy, just read the book and pay attentio

ONLINE-DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS-DO NOT!!The reading material; power point was interesting. He also gave a study guide; however the test was COMPLETELY different from the power points, the book also the study guide. He allowed only 45mins to take the test; if you skipped a question, you could not go back later to answer it. DO TAKE THIS CLASS!!

In all honesty if you're not African American DO NOT take this clas. He only relates to that ethnicity. He jumps around way to much and his tests are asked from 1 sentences in the book, not concepts. Horrible teacher definately do not recommend him. He also makes you submit 3 book critiques. Stay AWAY!!!

He really TEACHES. He allows you to use your own thoughts and expressions on the take home test. Even though they are take home BELIEVE ME.. they are hard, but fun. Great Professor!!
