I hated Rick in 110, but after that I became a huge fan. He's a really funny guy who I think definitely tries to play the devil's advocate in many scenarios in 260. Research your papers thoroughly and you'll do fine.

Rick is a very opinionated person. He has a strong belief on his opinions and does not appreciate it when you question his opinion. Even with going to every class, and doing the readings, It was very hard to get good grades when not completely agreeing with Rick. He claimed grades were not based on your opinion, however, I beg to differ.

Extremely knowledgable which makes for very compelling lectures. One of my favorite classes even though there was a lot of reading material. Some people complain that the material is 'dry' but I strongly disagree. Class discussions about the reading material was extremely interesting too. Made for some great debates.

260 changed my life for the better. I learned so much and this class sparked something inside of me. So motivated to try to change the world now. I hate reading and this class has a lot of required readings, but they are SO worth it and they don't take much time.

Ricks 260 class is the best! Even though the course material can be a little tough, its all very relevant and will help a lot in understanding other courses, performance in summer jobs and winning debates outside of school. He is passionate about this course and very honest, which is greatly appreciated. Great tests and essays, would take again!

He was super into the material and was always having a great time teaching. I found the course kinda hard, the lectures are okay but it's hard to figure out what you need to know. He reuses questions from the practice exams, so they're a good bet for studying.

There is no textbook for this class, his slides do not explain anything. He doesn't prepare you for any of his exams. The practice examples in class are NOTHING like the questions on the exams. I am just glad I don't have to take it again. D for done!

Rick is a funny guy, great lecturer. Tries to keep his students entertained despite the dryness of some of the material. If you try your best on the papers and read everything like a fiend, you'll do well.

Really had to work hard for this class. Lecture material was pretty hard to follow and labs were confusing sometimes. Gave absolutely no explanation of what was on the exams, essentially just told me that we just have to know the entire course to be ready for anything. Exams were really hard and nothing like lectures.

Comment:
Rick is the worst instructor Ive ever had and this class is awful! There is no textbook so the only material given is slides and they usually have mistakes in them. There are zero practice questions to allow us to study. Only 1 or 2 sample problems per topic are given in class. How are we supposed to succeed without practice? Absolutely brutal!

Rick is my least favorite prof in the department. Whenever I approached him with a question, I always felt like he sneered at me, or at least had some sarcastic and rude response. Rick treats students like every person is so annoying to him. Don't bother emailing him for a bit of help because he does not want to deal with you or help you succeed.

If you do your readings (read at least twice and take notes on them) and pay attention to class discussions, then the exams aren't so bad. This is a critical thinking class so he is teaching you how to argue and think critically, which means you have to work hard and learn how to think to pass this course.

Rick is a hilarious and sarcastic professor. He expects you to do well and made the exams easy if you payed attention and showed up. He used iClickers for the first time this year and basically gave marks for attendance. Class has a lab final just make sure you understand how to do the lab questions and you'll be fine.

He's a hilarious prof who will keep you engaged and keeps class super interesting. However, the classes he teaches tend to be super duper heavy on notes and lab-intensive and let me tell you the labs are DIFFICULT. I had him for REN R 110 and 201 so far and I like him, just you really have to know your stuff to get decent grades.

Rick teaches the concepts well and approaches his classes from a multidisciplinary angle. I had him for REN R 260 and 201 and he was great in both. He makes class really interesting and engaging and his hilarious/weird antics will keep you entertained. Lots of cool readings in 260.

Rick really puts emphasis on thinking critically about everything and puts things into simple perspectives to make tough concepts easier to understand. As long as you do the readings, this class is pretty straightforward and Rick makes it extremely interesting.

Comment:
Rick is really entertaining and cynical. He understands GIS very well and expects you to pick up on it quickly. The lab exam has a ton of theory rather than practical GIS use.
